Good value cinema in Peckham showing a mix of films.

Reviews for Peckham Multiplex

The good: this is the cinema if you´ve only got £10 in your pocket and you’re planning to get a snack, too (and you happen to be close by given transport costs!). There are several screens, some of which are quite decent, screening most if not all of the latest releases. There’s not usually much of a queue and it’s easy to find from the train station, along Rye Lane.

If you just want to see something because you´re nearby and bored, it will do.

The bad: the sound quality can be poor in some for some of the lesser screens. It’s not the safest area if you´re going for a late night showing.

I must admit, when I first moved to the area, I was a bit dubious about this cinema. I thought it might be a bit loud, a bit raucous; you know, popcorn throwing, heinous nacho cheese smeared on the seats, and lots of mobiles being answered during the screenings. I fully admit to being a bit snooty about it. Boy, have I been proved wrong. It's now a regular Monday night hangout.

All films are £5.50 all day long, which must be one of London's cheapest cinemas. As well as showing the usual action-packed blockbuster fare and kids' films, they often have an independent or foreign film choice showing at a decent time. It's never too busy, and I've never had my viewing experience disturbed by morons, not once. The popcorn's a bit pricey, and I'd like to see more low-budget stuff being shown there, but those are only minor downsides. Central London cinemas, take note!

Nice when things aren't quite what you expect. Heinous nacho cheese-seats, grim wafts of cinema hot-dogs, irksome ring-tones and only-fools-and-horses tomfoolery would have been a show-stopper. Sounds like a barg, with a sprinkling of culture to boot.
