Reviews for The Science Museum

The science museum is another of londons must see places. The entrance is free to all and it is open from 10am till 6pm most days.
You can find out about space travel and satellites and learn about our solar system.
The engine hall has a great collection of machines on display, some moving. So many things are here for you to see and do, it really will take the most part of a whole day to see all you want to. So make sure you wear comfy shoes and plan what to do for lunch. There is a cafe here but it is pricey and you could get something much better, or take something with you. They allow eating in the picnic area.
The museum shop has lots of gifts on show and catches most people for the odd item or two.

The science museum on exhibition road in kensington is an easy to get to free entrance museum. It is a good place for a family day out. The cafe is ok and offers some nice cookies, but is a bit over priced. The launch pad place is fun for the kids, the bit where you stand in a booth and the light flashes, then leaves your image behind as you had posed, was fun. But this part is really busy and full of very excited kiddies. The museum has a shop area which has a good selection of science based gift ideas, we bought a make your own mini loud speaker and are still being tortured with it... big mistake. A must see really.

Another reason why London is such an amazing place to live -- the Science Museum. Fascinating exhibits, and free!

There's an absolutely huge range to see -- in fact, I'm sure you could spend a week there and not see the whole lot. The basement hands-on kids' section is popular with the young 'uns, but a bit sweaty and chaotic for me -- a bit of natural light and ventilation would be welcome...

That apart, it's highly recommended to all ages. Enjoy.

I really enjoyed this museum although my visit was rather brief. The exhibits are very interesting and some are of an impressive scale. It is a great place for younger generation who are interested in learning. The many interactive exhibits also help to spark off interest. There is the science museum shop where you can buy various gadgets and gifts as well as the usual bits of stationery and random bouncy balls. The price in the shop isn't too unreasonable, and is very popular amongst the visitors there.

There is also the IMAX 3D cinema which is very popular, and if you are a student at Imperial College, which is only a short walk away, you are entitled to free entry (although I'm not certain about times and dates).

All in all, a very good day out, and free entry too!

The science museum is such a great family day out it never fails to please. The free entry is great too. The section which shows all the space items is cool, the kids just could not believe their eyes and it kept them awe struck for ages. The launch pad is always full to the brim with screaming happy kids all playing with the hands on science stuff. Even we adults had a go, naughty, but we are all just big kids at heart. There is a cafe, which is ok, but not cheap, but hey you do not pay to get in so it works out ok in the end. The natural history museum is close by so if you are feeling brave, see them both.

I have visited the Science Museum on several occassions with many family members, with ages varying from 86 to 18 months old. All have had a fantastic day out and all have learned a huge amount of interesting information on the world around us.

The highlight for hte children in the Lauch Pad, an interactive area that is educational and fun for both adults and children alike. there are many hands on exhibits and demonstrations avaliable with the friendly and knowledgeable staff and assistants.

The restaurants are well equiped and offer healthy food at fair prices. There is a large shop with lots of fun and educational gifts and collectibles.

Overall the science museum is a must for all ages. You will not regret a visit.

We took our 7 year old to the science museum and she could not get enough of the place. We had to literally drag her out from there. If you only have about two to three hours, go to the Launchpad on the 3rd floor first. The kids will having an amazing time trying out all sorts of hands-on experiments. he most fun for us was completing electrical circuits. My daughter was really chuffed to see the bulbs light-up and the bells ringing. She had so much fun there that we couldn't even go to any of the other floors.

Kids and adults will love the Science museum. The Science Museum now holds a collection of over 300,000 items including Stephenson’s rocket and Babbage’s computer and so much more. If in south Kensington for day well worth a visit along with the Victoria and Albert museum and natural history museum al within walking distance of one another. All the museums are free but I always give a contribution of about 15 pounds for the family. A recent addition is the IMAX 3D Cinema showing science and nature documentaries, some of them in 3-D, and the Wellcome Wing which focuses on digital technology. A must for all Londoners.

The London Science Museum is a fantastic museum, great for children and adults alike. The museum is located on Exhibition Road in South Kensington, easily accessible by car or tube, and is one of London’s biggest attractions. It’s a great place to visit with children, there are dozens of exhibits geared towards a younger audience, and it can be a really fun day out for the children. However there’s still a lot to enjoy for adults too, and you can literally spend hours walking around. Best of all, entrance is free, so there’s really no excuse not to go and visit the museum!

I remember going here as a child many a times, and loving it every single time! There is so much interactive things to do and learn, including throughout the museum touch screens and stuff like smelling objects to identify them. As well as that, there is a gigantic play room in the basement with all kinds of sciency stuff aimed at keeping the kids entertained. Entry to the whole museum is free. It can get very busy in school holidays and weekends so be warned, but it's still well worth it. The shop too is great, loads of books and souvenirs to take home.
