Riverside

London, SE1 2DB
Nearest Transport: London Bridge
Located between HMS Belfast and Tower Bridge, The Scoop is the focal point for the oddly named More London area in SE1. It's an outdoor sunken amphitheatre that can seat up to 800 Londoners, tourists and children depending on what's going on.

During summer it plays host to films, music and theatre. Best of all everything is FREE!

Since living in SE1 I've seen a bunch of movies there and it's often not the films themselves that tempt me (as I have most of them on DVD), but rather the atmosphere of sitting outside watching a movie with an eclectic mix of people.

My main reason for going though are the plays. London is an expensive city, yet here you can see unique productions without it costing you a penny (although you can of course leave a donation to the company afterwards)...

Usually there are two performances a day with a production for children earlier in the day. These especially are great fun, often with audience participation and a lot of singing and dancing. Last year's Cyclops was excellent and I still rate their Treasure Island on a par with the best of Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley!

And those seats can get cold even if the sun is out so regulars and locals tend to take a cushion!
