Home of Great Britain’s only grand slam tournament, Wimbledon, The All England Lawn Tennis club is the hub of sporting greatness... and it’s a great day out. The tickets for Wimbledon can be extremely expensive – centre court on finals day will set you back £70 or more per ticket – but there are more reasonable options available, for example the returns that you can buy on the gate.

If you are really lucky, you may see some of your tennis favourites from yester year waltzing around the All England Club followed by a crowd of BBC camera crews – I saw John McEnroe outside a toilet!

Other than these extra-tennis attractions (Mac outside the lav) the All England Club offer lots for visitors to this country and the city of London. Although quite an expensive day out, if you are a real tennis lover, it’s a must.

A day or two at the All England Tennis Club, aka Wimbledon, is probably my favourite summer pastime. Nothing beats a day of stuffing my fat gob with strawberries and cream, gulping down a Pimms or three and occasionally watching a few sets of tennis. Whether the action is on Center Court, on one of the "satellite" courts hosting the smaller names in the game or on Henman Hill (sorry, Murray Mound), it is impossible to beat Wimbledon for its atmosphere and reserved English energy.

But be sure to get in line early in the day, especially if you want tickets for the main courts - the queues get crazy, with some even lining up overnight in sleeping bags to ensure themselves good seats.

Top tip: if you are here late in the day, pick up used tickets for the main courts from the returns booth.

Boiling...with...rage....can...barely..t.t.t.type. Centre is spelt with an 're' not a damn 'er'. All that expensive British education...hurumph.

it's all the same, innit? at least i don't spell "through" "thru" or "favourite" "favorite". that would really enrage you, wouldn't it?
