Reviews for National Maritime Museum
If you're in Greenwich why not go? It's free, fun for the kids and interesting as it has loads of history and fascinating facts and information. It should definitely be included if you're in Greenwich. Expect to spend at least an hour or two looking around, although you can just pop in and rush around if you'd like (but I wouldn't recommend it).
It has lots of games and activities for children upstairs (as well as adults). I remember this boat simulation game upstairs that had a few children (and myself) playing on it for about 30 minutes.
It's open from about 10am and closes at 5pm. So why not check it out.
Great place to take kids during the holidays and it's free! Loads of space and rooms to explore. Never too busy and there is a activity centre where you can do hands on activites etc. There are usually other things laid on for children too during the holidays. Parking isn't a problem but you will have to pay. The cafe is a little bit pricey but Greenwich centre is just a few minutes walk away. If you get bored of the museum and all it's history then why not walk along the river and pop into some of the pubs along the way.
You cant come to Greenwich and not visit the National Maritime Museum,it is formed from the queens house and two separate wings joined by colonnades, It was first opened in 1937, blah blah blah, you can read this anywhere, what you really want to know is what is it like, is it worth a visit,
well it opens at 10.00 am and closes at 17.00 pm, it often hosts some great exhibitions, so i would check what is on before you go, is it worth it heck yes, it is steeped in history, if you really want a good photo of it go to the top of the hill in the park behind, by the observatory.
The National Maritime Museum details inspirational stories of exploration, discovery and endeavour from Britain’s seafaring past as well as examining the continuing effects the oceans still have on the world today. See Nelson’s bullet-pierced coat from his final, fatal battle and discover the courage shown by Franklin and Scott on their famous polar expeditions, all at the world’s largest maritime museum.
Admission: Free.
Opening Times: Daily 10.00 – 17.00. Last admission 30 minutes before closing. Summer opening times apply, see nmm.ac.uk for further information.
