I paid 60£ for a concert with Ginger Baker and special guests. I got 50 minutes of music and one special guest. We saw the bands set list and it matched the numbers played, so The Jazz Café must have known that this was a minor gig, and still they demand 60£ entrance. Jazz Café could have arranged additional music or lowered the price. The band didn't even give the audience a chance for an encore as they left stage without a: Thank you and goodnight. This experince borders a scam, and I can't recommend this place to anybody! Unfortunately I have to give the place one star, can't proceed with this review any other way, but actually I would give it none! - SAVE YOUR MONEY DON'T GO TO THE SHOW!!

I booked tickets to see Nitin Sawhney play live alongside a number of multi-talented musicians from around the world. The tickets were not cheap at £35.00 each, but it was an experience I will not forget. The venue is quite small, but this gives a really cosy feel, especially you will never be more than a few meters away from the stage - keeping you close to the musicians.

A meal could have been included for around another £20.00 per ticket, but this option had sold out a number of weeks before the event had taken place. This would have been an excellent way to enjoy the performance, as the dining area is set on the first floor, overlooking the stage. However, I certainly wasn't disappointed with dinner tickets being sold out, as I was able to get very close to the front of the crowd and really appreciate the live show. A real treat...

The jazz cafe is a great place for getting new and different acts, plus it is a decent size where you are able to stand around the stage without getting pushed around like at larger venues.

Always worth checking out to see what they have on. It would be cool if they could open abit later.

The Jazz Cafe is a fairly small live music venue in Camden. Many big name jazz and acid jazz bands play here and it is always a great night.

It is pretty much standing room only in front of the stage, but there is also a restaurant on the mezzanine level, where you can sit and watch the band from your table.

I have been here lots of times and these days always book a table in the restaurant (I am getting too old to stand up for so long!). The view is great if you get a table on the long bench overlooking the stage. Be warned though, the food is pretty dire.

No word of a lie!
I LOVE THE JAZZ CAFE!

I have been coming here for years, it combines my 3 favourite things! Music, dancing and socialising!

It is like having a party in your front room - fyou are that close and on a level with the artists and bands.

I've seen the likes of D'Angelo, Common, Jon B, Roy Ayres, James Taylor quartet, Dwele, Bilal, Amy Winehouse, Ben Westbeech, Soul II Soul, Kano, Lynden David Hall (RIP),Lemar, Omar, Eric Bennet, Erro, Terri Walker, Shaun Esscoffery, Peven Everett, Kila Kela - my list could go on!!!
They always have a great line up all year round and really know how to party with great DJ's after the shows.

The food is alright and the club itself is a little dingy (don't get me started on the q' for the ladies loo's) but it's the sounds and atmosphere people go there for and keep coming back.

My advice is book early and get a table upstairs (price includes your main course) this way you get to see the show in comfort, have table service for your drinks and dont get stuck in the crowd!
You will also probably meet the artist as they have to walk past your table and normally come and hang out afterwards!

you might think the subject title may be a little exaggerated, but it is not.

better give the basics: tis in camden, decent prices for drinks, hard to get your place back in the crowd once youve gone to loo. got an upstairs for eating and chillin' if you can splash money on a date.

i'd like to hit this spot more often than any other. the greatest highlight for me was the beatnuts and talib kweli gig, where me and some friends were in the middle of the crowd, and this little afro carribean guy just pushed us aside and jumped on the stage grabbed a mic and rapped "black...STAR". this little man was Mos Def. One great hip hop artist. something Jazz Cafe is renowned for; i have seen Platinum Pied Pipers, Ty, Estelle, Rhianne Benson, ?uestlove, Jazzanova, Eric Roberson and many other hip hop and r&b artists there. Its not often youd find yourself dancing with one of these people to a michael jackson or marvin gaye song...so get on down and STFU!

This is a good club to see world-famous or, less-famous but talented outfits playing live music from proximity, especially Jazz, World Music, Soul, R&B, etc.

You can either stand on the ground floor/stage level or book a table on the balcony to eat and view the stage from above.

I went there tonight with a friend to see legendary American Jazz saxophonist, Pharoah Sanders, and boy was it a joy to see such a virtuoso and colourful musician from close! We were standing and paid £20.

If you are standing and short in hight, you will either need to wear high heals or be on your boy/girlfriend's shoulders. Otherwise, just make sure you book a table on the balcony (at a premium) to enjoy the night in a relaxed way; eating food, drinking wine and looking down at the stage.
