I've always loved Ion Bar, been going for nearly 10 years, ever since it first opened - a great place for music and a not-too-young, good looking, mostly black crowd. It was sad when it closed originally and a shame it's closed again. I know there's been some trouble around it, but in all the times I've been, never a hint of a problem. When people say "rough" I think they might mean "black"...

this bar is full of life and has a really friendly atmosphere. You get the feeling that the people are here to love the music.

The bar gets very busy so I found myself buying two rounds at a time which can be silly because then you need to watch your drinks. My visit was a Sat night though....

Very cool place and all ages welcome! The little outside "smokers" section was a hit too as it saved us going on the street for a cig.

When the bar closes, you feel ready to continue dancing the night away at your next stop off. x

I agree with the comment about the Ion bar. Place was closed for a reason and should have stayed closed completely. Same kind of people still go there. Junkies, dealers and all sorts. Worst of all they are not even checked by the security at the door.
Staff and management are still rude and slow. You have to thank your lucky stars if you get served within 2 hours of arriving at the place.

Went there one night only wanting to see if things have changed, and they have not, so not going again and do not recommend it to anyone else.

i had to put a one star rating, but did not want to, so in reality it a zero.

Not all reviews have to be polite. No exceptions here. The reopening of this bar has gotta be the worst thing to happen in the area. It's been closed down several times by the local council over the past few years due to crime and unfortunately the doors are open again. On too many occassions aggressive fights and scruffles break out out the front. It seems to be a mecca for dangerous characters looking for trouble. If you're thinking of coming down then i'd seriously encourage you to reconsider. This is a
s*%thole of a joint.
