Reviews for Ronnie Scott's

Te late Ronnie Scott was famous for his joke routine that did not change much for 40 years as well as being the greatest British Jazz Saxophonist of his generation.

One of his jokes was to look at a member of the audience who was eating and say youre not going to eat that are you ?

Sally Greene has done nothing to improve the food that remains very poor.

This is still the best Jazz Club in Britain and where the top international stars tend to play and despite more people being squeezed in under the new owners the atmosphereand ambiance are great !

Only go if you love Jazz.......
The food is moderate at best..
Mushroom soup is very good to start
Truffle linguine is good and plentiful
Turkey for chrismas is OK but short on veg no roasties or yorkshire.
The sea bass is small enough to be a starter.
Ice cream is good
Cheeseboard is substantial but dull.
The room is small with crowded tables elbow fencing tight.
Light levels are low and there is a strict no mobile no talking keep it quiet policy.Drinks are not cheap nor is the food.
The music is very good indeed...if you like Jazz.
Just remember this is a music venue that serves food, music first food second

ok so everyone has heard of ronnie scotts, but what is it actually like. well since it was done up a few years ago i rather like it. it still have the table lamps and dark underground feel to it and there is still a great selection of performers to be seen here. its not cheap of course, i have drinks but i always steer clear of the food. i remember by friend insisting on having some and what amounted to nothing more than cheese and crackers (2 slices of basic cheddar and 3 crakers) were brought to her for over 10 quid. aslo we often have to ask for our wine about 3 times before we get it. at the end of the day you come here because its ronnies and one of very few places you can see like jazz or bosa nova etc. i wish it were less expensive but have enjoyed it every time i have been.

Many of the gigs here are fantastic. It was refurbished not long ago so the place is clean and looks great with a 'pit' in the middle (where a few tables are) and on the sides are rows of tables tiering up so you can get a good view of the band from most vantage points. It is THE place to hang out at if you enjoy sampling jazz. Food and drink in the joint are pretty average but the desserts are very good, especially the strawberry cheesecake.

This is the mother of all jazz clubs, which has seen legendary performances of some of the most renowned and popular jazz names in history. Good, simple food is also available but you go there for one thing: Jazz!

Hi - Have you been there since the recent renovations?
Formaggio_Amore at 31/05/07
Hi Sue. No, unfortunately, I have't been there since but I heard that it is much better than it was before, in terms of decor, at least. The key thing, obviously, would be the gig. If it is a good one (especially if you like Jazz) then the rest is to a certain extent marginal in importance -I guess. Sorry for not being very helpful/knowledgeable!
