We came dressed as Victorian gentleman fresh from a week fox hunting. Jolly impressed we were with this little club reminds me of a place in Mayfair which I used to frequent whose name I dare not mention.

The fine fillies this fine establishment attracts were damn sporting too and I was happy to make the acquainted of several young ladies who were kind enough to add me to their dance card.

Although I am not entirely sure if all the young creatures were strictly debs (or if they were were from the Essex branch) if not they made up for their lack of breeding by their good humour.

Indeed my close friend Mr Julius Fothergill The Third I believe secreted one or two of them in his carriage to take back to his Manor.

What a character although I must I say they would not have allowed that kind of thing at Oxford I can tell you.

The alcoholic refreshments and victuals were also top notch and the service would have impressed even my butler who is a stickler for that kind of thing.

In fact I have a mind to employ one of two of their staff as servants were they to become available and of course they were able to provide first class references - my housekeeper is a sticker for that kind of thing.

Till later dear friends as I have foxes to catch and fillies to chase.

Tally Ho

A Victorian Gentleman (or rather cad)

Well I guess you either love the Peacock or you hate it! We love it

For my hen party we all camed dressed as young debutantes attending our first ball - all 30s like. Imagine our surprise when we seated next to a group of wonderful young gentleman all dressed up as if straight from "Brideshead Revisted" (although not sure if Morgan Stanley existed then or if they had bonuses - they were all celebrating their bonuses blah blah but still nice!).

And then for no reason and without warning two fireman rushed in in full gear and picked us up on put us on their fire engine which was parked outside on the pavement for an impromptu photoshoot. Before rushing in again for a quick sping around the pole. Everyone went willd (especially us)

As you come into the Peacock there is a sign saying "All the World's A Stage" - at the Peacock it certainly is!!

It is said that during the molting season the male peacock sheds his stunning plumage and reveals a lacklustre, unexceptional, grey-coloured tail which is normally hidden from view beneath his stunning train feathers.

Sadly, The Peacock Bar & Club (Clapham Junction) suffers the same shortcomings: take away the tail feathers and all you are left with is a bland bar with a colourless clientele in a rather insalubrious part of South London.

Just like the male of the species, the staff in this establishment display an exaggerated sense of their own importance. They have done their best to create the illusion of splendor but beneath this lies a humdrum reality. Peahens risk being disappointed. DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!

A big disappointment. Does not live up to any promises. It sounded brilliant on the website but was a far cry from the reality. Slowest service imaginable and they don't even stock champagne - which is obviously essential for celebrations and most decent cocktails.

Awful crowd and overall dreadful atmosphere. We had high hopes for the entertainment and anticipated clientele but were left gutted with our evening

Don't make the same mistake we did, it nearly ruined the hen night - fortunately we were able to find a decent venue and create our own fun.

I was bowled over not just by the entertainment but by the cocktails.

We had taken the mojito heaven option for our birthday celebrations and we and our friends had two staff making us different mohito combinations - (champagne, strawberry, raspberry you name it) all night.

After that its all rather a blur bit I dimly recall some trannie making some rather lewd jokes much to everyone’s amusement and me dancing around the recommend for dancefloor rather ineffectively. The staff very kindly gave us all a free round of shots at the end of the night too and put in a cab too

Highly recommend for cocktails, cabaret, Djs and dancing

We all came late so missed the cabaret (thanks Pizza Express... or rather Pizza Slow).

Place was rocking and after a few cocktails so were we. Cheesy disco house heaven full of 20-30 somethings looking fine (but rather less fine I seem to recall by end of night!)

Highly recommend all round
