Reviews for Top Floor @ Peter Jones

There aren't many places to stop for a decent coffee and cake around Sloane Square and there is almost always room to sit upstairs at Peter Jones. The food is good enough (for the price), the coffee is OK, but the wonderful views are most likely obstructed by screaming kiddies running rampant around the place.

On the flip side, this is a very child-friendly place - lots of thought has gone into children's options, etc.

It's *very* popular at weekends though decent during the week. I'd avoid at peak shopping times.

Tea and Cake. Possibly the three most wonderful words in the English language. Guranteed to enduce a gleeful squeal of delight and set in motion a decadent departure from chains of American esque coffee shops and 'fast food' nation.

Peter Jones is part of the John Lewis group and set in Sloane Square this is the area for sloany style spotting. But oversized handbags and sunglasses aside this is a wonderful venue for a cheeky tea and cake stop.

We sat by the windows on the top floor which offered the most breath-taking view of the city, even above the smog and pollution. There is also a rather nifty map that gives you the cities highlights and main landmarks to be spotted across the horizon. Dusk and dawn here would be amazing, its a shame PJ is not open at such times!

I recommend coming here for tea and cake, as portions are HUGE and selections tempting enough for everyone. Scones come with traditional jam and butter (john Lewis sourced of course!) and their fruit cake is rich, moist and very indulgent. Much like many of thee patrons in this neighbourhood. Still silly money aside, other offerings are fresh, fresh, fresh salads, soups, sandwiches, 'proper' meals including on our visit: Vegetable mousaka and lasagne. The crepe area also looked delicious!

So come here to escape the expense of the sloany set, and enjoy a game of high tea delights and views, only without the price tag of the Berkley. Oh and did i mention the view!
