Reviews for Market Coffee House

Stopped here for a coffee one Sunday afternoon after a browse at Spitalfields Market. Excitedly we managed to get a table out the front, which is a fabulous place for people watching…. shame about the sewerage smell wafting out of the nearby drain.

The café was pretty busy, and I had to queue inside for around five minutes to order our coffees. While I was waiting I had a look around and pretty much liked what I saw, though was saddened by their limited cake selection.

After waiting a while too long for our coffee it was delivered outside to us. It looked pretty good, and the milk was nice and creamy, but the coffee was bitter. Three stars though cause I liked the place and would try it again.

Now I haven't had the food here but consider this place to do the best coffee in the area. Often I'm forced to add sugar to espresso to hide the taste of rubbish coffee, but not so here. Worth a visit for a casual visit or a quick takeaway.

In these parts of Shoreditch it’s difficult to find somewhere to chill that hasn’t been embellished with street art or been given the trendy stamp.

Black & white memories of London through the times adorn the walls, blackboard menus, cotton & lace half way curtains, all add to the modest Victorian interior without going over the top. You instantly feel welcome and comfortable, but don’t be surprised if you find yourself surrounded by tea guzzling women having a good old gossip.

If you work in the area, they serve tasty and reasonably priced filled rolls, sandwiches and cakes; I recommend the steak roll washed down with a glass of Chegworth Valley apple juice or pick from a selection of loose teas.

Honest, service with a smile and even the receipts are stamped and hand written.

Food was superb, great sarnies, home-made humous & cakes. Just superb. Gets busy at lunchtime so get there early.
