Visited on 26/07/07. This place is very popular amongst mothers with babies. (children friendly) The environment does look a bit like a 'kindergarten' from outside. I had a mushroom and onion quiche and it was deprived of any culinary touch, just bland. The salad which came with it, was boring with almost an invisible and tasteless dressing. There was also some anonymous cold pasta salad on my plate. The smoothie tasted like ’innocent drink’ and not fresh like I was expecting. The cappuccino was weak with no character. I noticed that the minimum order was £3.5- I personally don’t mind but some people might find this annoying. We were charged extra 70p for paying with visa which also doesn't make sense to me. The only good thing about this place was the inside area which has nice wooden tables and chairs and felt friendly. 'Healthy' food doesn't need to taste bland! This experience will be deleted...
If you are looking for a nice place to eat after fighting through the crowds of Portobello market then this lovely cafe is the ideal place to escape the maddening crowds.
All the food is homecooked and reasonably priced. We both chose the quiche with salad, mine was quiche lorraine whilst Donna went for a brocilli & Feta filling. The salad was an intersting mix of butter beans, cous cous & chickpeas. We also had a ginger beer & fresh orange. The cost was GBP8 each with tip & I was so full up that I couldn't squeeze in a homemade cake.
The decor is fresh with a daisy theme naturally, there is a small balcony as well as a little paved outdoor seating.
The staff were really friendly and service was quick and served with a smile. The minimum spend in here was GBP3.50
