The Bake-a-boo website calls itself a unique hideaway...and it really is! I live down the road from this place and it is my safe haven when I am working from home and want to treat myself for my hard work with one of their lovely non-dairy fairy cakes, or want to have a quiet gossip with mybest friend on the weekend over a cup of tea and a gluten-free brownie. And it's even got Wi-Fi too!

The cakes, muffins and cupcakes are so so lovely. They are beautofulyl decorated in such lovely colours and they taste amazing. And yes they cater for those with what, gluten and dairy allergies so everyoen can eat there! They do lovely cream teas and coke floats too and you can even rent out an area in the back for afternoon tea parties with scones and little sandwiches too.

I love it and whenever I am going to a dinner party now always pick up a few treats here.

It's very pink and pretty so if you're in a girly mood, this is the place to be!

Bake-a-boo is a gorgeous little cake shop/cafe in West Hampstead (nearest tube Kilburn). Mill Lane is definitely moving up in the world, a greasy spoon ahs become a posh caf, there's a new organic shop and now Bake-a-boo. It's very cute, all shabby chic, I get the feeling they like Cath Kidston. They serve a variety of lactose free and gluten free cupcakes, and while they're not as impressive or tasty as Peyton & Byrne, they're very good considering. They serve afternoon tea with tea in gorgeous china teapots, both a normal one & a sensitive one for coeliacs and lactose intolerants. They also cater childrens parties.

It's in our area so we frequently pop in for take aways but the caf itself is gorgeous and I would recommend a visit.

I am giving it 4 stars because it's so hard to get good dairy free cupcakes and these guys have done it. As a lactose intolerant it's a real treat :-) I haven't actually eaten the savoury fare there though so these stars are purely for the tea, cupcakes and brownies.

    Fairy Cakes

For the past few weeks I'm discovering hidden gems in Kilburn and increasingly feeling proud of living in this neighbourhood. Bake-a-Boo opened only a week and a half ago on Mill lane and the first day I walked by it, it instantly grabbed my attention. Was it the unique name, or was its purplish exterior I don't know but as I was increasingly approaching it I could see the lovely cup cakes sitting behind the window and they looked simply too inviting to simply watch.

As you enter Bake-a-Boo is liked entering a little fairy tale. The interior goes quite deep into the store and the decoration continues with this fairy tale theme throughout. In the middle of the store you have lovely chandeliers and sofas where you could easily imagine yourself just sitting in one of them with your friends or young family if you have one. I've had one of their chocolate brownies which was alright. I would have preferred more chocolate and some nuts to make them great in my mind. The fairy cup cakes however were great and took me down memory lane to when I was a kid at the American School in Jeddah called PCS. Ahhhh nice memories. I'll definitely stop by the Fairy Cakes a few more times this week and spread the word with my friends in the Kilburn area.
