Brill is a real gem. A gorgeous little independent music shop that also serves good coffee and has a small but very well chosen selection of music. It's the perfect antidote to our chain culture. It's almost like visiting a friends to raid their collection, only you get to buy and keep them ;) There's often good music deals too.

Not content with offering great music and coffee, you can also get brick lane bagels, pastries, brownies and there's free wifi. We need more of these places and we need to support the ones that are around. I would highly recommend you pop in and fall in love with Brill, as I have.

Sounds lovely! Sounds similar to Foyles cafe? Maybe better from what I'm hearing re recent refurb :-)

It's so nice! Smaller more compact version with better coffee. I haven't been to Foyle's since the refurb, I am afraid! I should go soon and check it out.

Jeremy Brill runs the cool Brill in Exmouth Market. Brill stocks hand picked records, with great CDs in the Jazz and Soul collection. Jeremy quickly realized that having a simple record shop wouldn't be enough to survive in a challenging economy where people buy records more and more on an online basis. So he decided to look at the shopping experience and transformed his shop with a cafe aspect to it where you can get coffees, bagels from brick lane and even free wifi which is awesome.
