I completely agree with the other reviewers. We're very lucky to have a place like Nice Croissant in Wanstead and I think it's really important to support independently owned places like this. It really is no sacrifice to support it though as the coffee is excellent, the sandwiches and pastries are delicious. This is the perfect place for lunch. I recommend you arrive early though as it fills up very quickly!

I have been going to Nice Croissant for about two years, and though I have moved to "trendy" Shoreditch in the east end of London, I still travel back when i can to to Wanstead to enjoy good Coffee and Particularly the Milles feux, which to my understanding are actually made on the premises, so "never a dry pie in the house"
The service is friendly and efficient with the help of a rather nifty flag system, so they know where your sitting.
The place is clean and tables are always cleared so you don't have to sit with the last customers empty plate " a rarity in these days of chain style coffee and sandwich houses, "you know who i mean". and adding to that, "plates" .... you eat of them. Not from some Plastic Prett-a-Costa-Bucks-a-thingy.

Basically, I like Nice Croissant, A Lot, if your in that area and you want a good Coffee, Go There!

SO FEW ARE AWARE BUT THE LOCALS KNOW IT WELL. NICE CROISSANT HAS A QUEUE ALMOST EVERY SUNDAY MORNING FOR FRESHLY BAKED CROISSANT AND BAGUETTES. THEY HAVE BEEN A PART OF WANSTEAD HIGH STREET FOR ABOUT 15 YEARS, MENTIONED IN TIME OUT AS PART OF THE BEST LITTLE KNOWN VILLAGE IN LONDON.

WANSTEAD HAS SO FAR MANAGED TO KEEP A SMALL BUSINESS VILLAGE FEEL AND NICE CROISSANT IS A REAL FOCUS IN THIS HIGH STREET.

THEY ARE ONE OF THE FEW PLACES I HAVE COME ACROSS MAKING CROQUENBOUCHE TO ORDER (OUTSIDE OF CENTRAL LONDON PATISSERIES) AND THE CELEBRATION CAKES ARE TERRIFIC. YOU HAVE TO SEE THE DISPLAY BOOK....GREAT SELECTION AND YOU CAN HAVE IT THE WAY YOU WANT IT.......NOT A CUTOUT OR LOGO TYPE OF PLACE.

LUNCH TIME IS A BUZZ AND THE MENU CHOICE FOR A CAFE IS EXCELLENT. YOU HAVE TO WAIT A BIT AS IT FRESHLY PREPARED EVERY TIME.

THERE SHOULD BE MORE PLACES LIKE THIS AROUND, RATHER THAN THE SAME STARBUCKS ON EVERY STREET
