I came across the Kitchen Table by accident on a wet Saturday in West Hampstead. My friends and I were tired and lost and very hungry. When we stumbled in Jenny was really helpful and chatty and immediately made us feel at home. There was some relaxing music on and she was making a cake while her husband came over and talked us through their long list of teas and homemade sweets. My friend Em had a beautiful fennel salami sandwich followed by hot chocolate (made with flakes of real chocolate) and a slice of pie while Alex had a bacon sandwich with roasted tomatoes that he swears is the best he's ever had. I had an amazing bowl of warming French onion soup with gorgonzola croutons but still managed a slice of deep black flourless choclate cake. It was still raining when we finished so we sat and browsed through the piles of well thumbed cookbooks while chatting to Jenny about the area. I've been hoping to move closer to West Hampstead and if I do I know this place will become like a second home.
