Having moved to south east london from south west 15 years ago, before the refreshing seacow east dulwich, before the un touchable Franklins, before the warm cosy Jacks Lordship Lane- There were 3 standout places, Blue Mountain North Cross rd, Free Range Lordship Lane (sadly now cafe noodle) and Seymour Bros Camberwell.
The latter had a very definite place in my heart- its rustic feel, easy service and the essence of the art school permeating throughout. And best of all the rolls, oh the rolls, unique to Seymour Bros, certainly within the eateries i frequent.

I write this with heavy heart but seeing as its the 3rd time its happened i think its become form and not a one off.

The young mediterranean woman, thats how her colleague described her, wherever she hails from, her attitude stinks.

I was barked at today, for the 3rd time in 3 visits. why? i didnt hear what she said. She never says please, she never says thank you and if you ask for something they dont have, woe betide you.
I persevered for the sake of the rolls- sadly they're just not that good.

Yes - this place is quite eccentric, the tables are a bit wobbly and so are the waitresses but this place has a really fantastic ambiance, lots of regular customers and really good food, day and - in particular night. I love the Thai evening takeover; it all has a friendly D-I-Y feel about it and it's run by a couple of extremely nice ladies who are, whilst sometimes a bit slow with the service (they're getting better!), are friendly and extremely welcoming - this kind of attitude and enthusiasm is very difficult to find in London.

All in all a great community spot - sorry that testigolucura was unsatisfied - if it's a "proper" restaurant you're after then give it a miss, but for anyone with a bit of a taste for special out of the way places with a feeling all their own THIS ONE'S FOR YOU!

Seymour Brothers has existed some years, originally as a sandwich bar cum pizzaria of consitently excellent quality. The place appears to have changed hands recently and is now a sandwich bar with a Thai restaurant in the evening. The sandwich bar is of good quality, with high quality ingredients, but a weakness is that a lack of itemised billing on exit can often lead to confusion as to how the final bill relates to the items consumed, which can lead to an embarrassing request for clarification. The Thai restaurant facility in the evening is not of high quality. We ordered a duck dish which contained one piece of meat and four or five pieces of duck skin. Service is lamentable, with half hour waits for dishes that would ususally be ready in 10 minutes in your average Thai. On querying the fact that that customers who had arrived after us were served before, I was informed by the single waitress / owner? that she was also doing the cooking of soups, while another cook was working on main courses. Upon billing we found that although upon entry we had been informed that we were allowed to bring in wine or beer from outside, we were surprised to find that this attracted corkage, although this had not been mentioned by the waitress / owner?, and was not readily evident on the menu. When querying this issue we were immediatly let off the corkage, but at the cost of being told that the place was "obviously not our kind of place" and prohibited from re-entry for life. Upon arrival at home, we discovered that although we had chosen the cheaper (ie, non prawn option) for our stir fry, we had in fact been charged for the more expensive prawn option. As I am now prohibited I am not returning to query this.
Advice - sandwich bar, ok but always check your bill; Thai restaurant, avoid
