Reviews for Hampstead Tea Rooms

I used to go here in the 90s and it was a fab place and the staff where very good, i went lately and it was just not the same, anyone have any idea what happened to the guy who was the manager there Carlos?

This place does ok breakfast and sandwiches. I used to go for a light bite and a quiet spot to read.

But over the past few years, the service got worse and worse and became almost unbearable. Moreover, apart from the owner's wife, no-one seems to know how to smile. The owner is always in a foul mood, and he's short tempered with customers.
I agree with the last reviewer that the cakes do look delicious. But freshness is not guaranteed.

There are plenty other nice cafes on South end Road, just stay away from this one.

This place used to be really nice but in my opinion it's gone right downhill. Last time I went, and I won't go back, service was slow and they brought the wrong type of egg with my breakfast despite asking specifically what I wanted when I ordered. To be fair, the menu is quite nice, especially the cakes and deserts!! They do some nice drinks that are quite different, including milkshakes and an iced chocolate drink which I saw someone have and it looked delicious! But overall, service was poor. The waitress didn’t seem to have a clue what she was doing. A shame for somewhere that used to have such a good reputation.

I work locally and had the misfortune to order a birthday cake for a very special person from this local cafe. It was recommended by my work colleagues. The price quoted was not only exorbitant along with a £5/- surcharge for writing the name of the person the cake was intended for. I was asked to pay the amount in full at the time of placing the order. When I landed to collect my cake to my horror the cake prepared for me was half the size of what was shown. At the time of ordering I was told the cake will be atleast 1 KG in weight but this was less than 500gms. The name on the cake was unclear and to top it all there was no apology for the incorrect size or offer of refund. I was told that I must have mistaken the size. This is nothing but thuggery. I was extremely disappointed and I was told I could take 2 pastries since they could not bake the size at that time. It did definitely spoil the special day for my loved one.
