My self esteem was saved after an atrocious encounter with a salon that claimed to cater to Black hair. I have a feeling they thought I was referring to the colour of my hair rather than the texture LOL.

Jimmy on the other hand took pity on my battered barnet and transformed me from what I thought was an ugly duckling to a swan. I know this may sound clichéd, but it was the first time I truly understood why other women so enjoy going to the hairdressers and come out feeling like a million bucks (or should that be Euros now in the current financial climate?!)

Before you start thinking I must be a trannie who has just come over to the female side, at that point I’d only ever visited the hairdressers twice in my life and the second time had been earlier that day!

Whether or not I was able to recognise my own fear of the professional hair domain, I am able to recognise passion and Jimmy definitely has that in bucket loads. I might even go as far to say that he has a hair fetish, but this is meant in a totally complementary fashion. His love of hair makes you want to take better care of yours and shower as much love on it as he does. Jimmy’s hair knowledge extends further than just a cut and colour, he is able to merely feel your hair and tell you what food group you’re lacking in and what the solution is. Whether that be hair growth, elasticity or strength, you name it, he can mend it.

The Jimmy Campbell salon caters to all hair types or blends and will soon be offering beauty treatments and hair care classes. In the past the hairdresser experience was generally segregated by hair type so a mixed group of friends could not frequent the same place, but with Jimmy’s holistic approach all you need to have is hair and they’ll look after you. So now you and your girl friends can visit one salon and all feel amazing.
