Wow, to be honest I'm really quite surprised that no one has reviewed this yet. Then again, every time I've been there, it's been empty, which might account for the lack of reviews...
In actuality, they are re-launching in September; it's recently been bought and will be re-named Barrio North in the hopes of emulating the spirit and warmth of a Latin neighbourhood bar. I was speaking to the new owner last night and he has high hopes, looking to meld the cultures of Havana, Miami, and other Hispanically-influenced cities in the re-branding of his bar. I'm all for it, but will be greatly disappointed if it results in a watered-down, weak bar/nightspot full of try-hards.
(Look to Cafe Kick in Shoreditch or Exmouth Market for a successful version of a culturally branded bar)
Anyway, I like the Warwick as it is but I am all for change. As it stands, it's comfortable, kind of like your boyfriend's old shirts that you like to sleep in (yes, it is a strange analogy but oddly enough, it fits), the small selection of draught beers ranges from the eclectic to the commercial, and they have djs on a regular basis. The decksmith's skills last night weren't the best I've ever heard, but his record collection was good (soulful, vocal house) and unlike most London bars, the volume was acceptable.
I'm looking forward to visiting in September, once they're relaunched. I really like the owner's new concept for the bar, and would like to see it put into play.
