Reviews for The Langley
We don't do Valentine's Day so instead decided to treat ourselves on Friday 13th to a meal at the Langley. And mightily impressed we were too.
We booked an hour before arriving and were given a lovely booth table that was comfy and relatively private.
Unknowingly we arrived during Happy Hour which finishes @8pm, offering cracking wine for around the £10 mark. We had the Rioja and very nice it was too.
Both of us had the surf 'n turf, sirloin steak with half a lobster and chips plus a decent size salad. It was cooked beautifully rare and the lobster was also well prepared. Thank goodness we didn't have starters or we would have been overfaced - the portions sizes add to the great value of this place.
We were also impressed that we could be in and out in the hour (we were heading to the cinema) with great food, wine and service.
For those wanting a quiet romantic meal this isn't the place on a Friday, buzzing with after work revellers and loud music. But the restaurant is tucked to one side so there is some separation.
The beauty of this place is also it's location, while creating a private club style atmosphere. We will be going again, soon, and probably in happy hour with friends. Thoroughly impressed.
P.S. Take your ID - the doormen seem to enjoy quizzing you on entry despite being well over the legal drinking age!!
Despite setting itself up as a "unique" bar-restaurant in the heart of Covent Garden, the Langley is actually as identikit as they come. Drinks are middle of the road, staff are indifferent and as for the food...
The restaurant section seems like an afterthought, with a deeply uninspiring menu and hapless staff who had to ask each member of our 8-strong party up to three times what our orders were. The food was late, boring, and expensive. Avoid.
A great little place, does not attract drunken yobs.
Several rooms - a restaurant, bars and private rooms. Food is good although the menu a little eclectic - fish and chips wrapped in newspaper.
Drinks are excellent - happy hours great value.
A little gem where i've had lots of great nights
A cool hangout away from some of the drunken tourists
The Langley is a retro-styled basement bar and restaurant located near Covent Garden. I used to go there quite a bit, as friends kept organising get together there.
Have eaten in the restaurant a few times and it has been fairly good, especially as they always seem to offer dining discounts.
I like the atmosphere of the Langley and the music they play. It can get very noisy and crowded - which may well be just what you young things want from a bar!
Good atmosphere and music but stopped going there after they didnt cater to our large group properly.
Enjoy the classic retro styling of The Langley. Comfort food, classic cocktails and funky tunes provide the backdrop to a unique experience in Covent Garden until 1am.
The private rooms and booths of The Langley offer a comfortable and popular hideaway for late night drinks, in stunning surroundings.
The Langley´s restaurant features classic ´Comfort Food´ delivered with a modern twist. Featuring dishes such as Honey Glazed Loin of Pork with Spiced Apple and Date Chutney and Char-grilled Swordfish Steak with Mango and Chilli Goats Cheese.
Larger groups are always catered for and can benefit from a Set Menu before enjoying the bars until late.
Chef´s Speciality Dish:
Roast shallot, leek and Red Leicester tart
You've got many options here - laze around on sofas, shout at each other at the bar, catch up over a bottle of wine or fill up one of the booths for a party - always reliable day, evening, night or that time where you know you should be in bed but, hey, life's short. My Top Tip: mojito.
Huge bar with different rooms. Nice music and trendy
