Reviews for The Dublin Castle

Meh. Good for a cheesy boogie or if you want to see a band. Gets very crowded, very sweaty and full of very, very "cool" people...

I have been to this place twice on a weekend and had a really good time. In my opinion one of the very few pubs in London where you can listen to really good music if you are fun of the british music scene and it is obvious that people go there for the music. Everyone is very friendly and you can actually meet new people something I don't find very easy to happen in London and especially in pubs. Highly recommended!!!!

The place hosts some of London's best up and coming musicians. It's a great place for a music night out. It's good size venue and the drinks are reasonably priced. The staff are okay too.

But the sound is WAAAAAYYY too loud - to the point of distortion for most bands. It's harsh. And the pub itself smells awful and the lights are blinding for a pub.

As for the clientel - if you read NME, this is your mecca. And be careful who you speak to if you're open to different types of music - some of the clientel is less than open minded. In fact, I'd go so far as to call them music snobs. But of course, that's not everybody and I get the impression from other reviewers that perhaps on the 10 or more occassions I've been there, I've simply met a not-so-representative group of people.

So, I'll keep going there for the music but I might not share my opinion of it with the people I meet there.

Fantastic. It is a brilliant music venue which hosts some incredible and unsual bands. The staff are all extremely helpful and friendly, and the prices are really good, especially considering its location. The atmosphere is always brilliant and the mix of clientel show just how friendly and inclusive the venue is.

This is the BEST PUB IN LONDON!

OK, you might walk past it during the day and mistake it for a dive. You are so wrong.

Come the evening and this place is jumping. One of the coolest jukebox listings I've ever seen (one of the few bars with one left).

The back room is used for bands almost everynight, and is well worth a visit. Everyone who is anyone on the british music scene has played here.

Even if you don't go through to the back, a great night can be had in the front bar. The staff a customers are so friendly you just feel like you belong.

I can't stress it enough. Visit this pub!

I went to see 4 really shit bands here but had an amazing night. The crowd were really mixed as most of the bands had bought their friends and they were all very different.

It was an eclectic mix of people aswell as music to say the least.

Infact it was probably one of the most friendliest pubs I've been to in London.

A real locals muso place and i met some fun people.

The barman downstairs seemed a bit knackered and somehow managed to pour me a snakebite instead of a pint of cider but was ever so nice about it, apologised, laughed and poured me another.

i wouldnt go back in a hurry as I'm not a big fan of bands but I really enjoyed myself.

defo worth a pop in if you like live music and a bit of camden scenester grime!!!!

Most of the best indie bands of the last 20 years have paid their dues in this legendary Camden watering hole. With 3 or 4 live bands, 6 nights a week, it's THE venue to discover new music and mingle with members of the up and coming music scene. An Irish family-run pub in the heart of Camden Town, it's always lively, full of young alternative types and has late opening to 2pm most nights. Some of my most drunken, decadent and fun nights have been spent at this place. Sundays nights are particulary good with excellent DJs and a pretty crazy last chance saloon vibe. Supposedly a new busload of beautiful Swedish girls arrives here every saturday night so it's always a good pulling point if you fancy your chances. Recommended.
