I was here earlier today with a couple of friends; we had a wander around Camden and after my numerous pleas of "can we puh-leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease go to Bar Vinyl?!" they relented and off we went for a couple of drinks.

I promptly disappeared downstairs into the record shop while they shared a bottle of wine (not very good) and a couple of kitschy, musically-named pizzas (apparently rather good). I emerged an hour and a half later, positively giddy with my new purchases.

I really love this place, quite possibly for the sheer novelty of going to a bar to buy a couple of records and then being able to sit down to have a drink. It's a fabulous idea and I wonder why there aren't more like it, since dance music and liquor tend to go hand-in-hand. I think Bar Vinyl could be improved by working on their list of beer available, but they have a range of cocktails if you are so inclined and to be honest, the major draw of this little place isn't the booze available but the ability to do just what I did today.

It goes without saying that they have djs nightly, and if you're into house music, definitely stop buy to grab a couple of records; the staff in the record store is really friendly and they are quite happy to hand-pick some cuts for you to listen to as you make your selections!
