47 Aldgate High Street, London, EC3N 1AL

In the 17th century, many of the buildings were made of wood. The Great Fire of 1666 destroyed most of these buildings, but the Hoop & Grapes made a lucky escape. Today it is the only 17th century timber-framed building which exists in the city. A good selection of real ales and food is served in the large bar and dining area. Pavement seating is also available.
