Reviews for Faltering Fullback
Tucked away in a residential street off Stroud Green on Perth Road is this magnificent charming pub. Cozy front area filled with assorted memorabilia serving your standard choice of larger on tap. Next room is the kitchen/games/sport area with picnic tables. Menu are mostly Thai food, it was okay. There's a jukebox but it was very loud. Back of the room is a pool table.
The most interesting about this pub is its hidden beer garden, not just one but four levels of it!! It completes with heaters and plenty of room. Only down side is if you're on the top tier of the garden, you'd have to go all the way downstairs to the bar or facilities. But definitely worth going.
Hidden away in a street off Stroud Green road. Great atmosphere and choice of beers. And even the jukebox is great, with bands like Queensryche, Iron Maiden and Slayer in the list!
This seems to be about the only place worth spending any serious drinking time in, around Finsbury Park.
I've heard many people comment how much they'd like to live on Perth Road. Why? It's just an ordinary terraced street?! Well, with some further questioning it usually ends up being something to do with being close to the Fullback. That's quite a compliment.
The Fullback is a funny place - a rugby pub which shows football, an Irish pub with a Thai kitchen. A locals bar, a cosy room for couples and readers, a hard-drinker area, and a room for hedonists (where the jukebox isn't at all bad).
If you haven't been, you should have.
Total find of a pub! Looks cool from the outside, great interior, pool table, friendly staff and not too expensive. What more could you want? Considering the poor state of any other of the local establishments it's no wonder that this joint gets very busy.
Saunter up the Stroud Green Road, take a right into Perth Road and you will stumble across this absolute gem of a local pub. This pub was actually the reason my flatmates and I moved to Finsbury Park 4 years ago. It has a real local feel, friendly bar staff, interesting beers, and very tasty and cheap thai food (around a fiver for a main course). There are three different areas, all with quite different moods - the main bar area (lots of wooden furniture, books on shelves, interesting things hanging from the ceiling), another room which we've always referred to as the 'student room' (due to its jukebox, pool tables, big wooden picnic benches and other stuff reminiscent of a student union), and a gorgeous flowery courtyard hidden out back. Definitely recommended (but don't spread the word too far - it gets crowded enough on weekends already).
