    Fab as usual

I love the Gowlett! Went there last night after not having visited in a while and pleased to see it's just as good as ever.

My friend and I shared a half-and-half Gowlettini/Funghi pizza (£8) and a tricolore salad (£4). Both really good servings and the pizza has a great, incredibly thin stonebaked base. We finished with the brownie and ice-cream which was dark and cocoa-ey and very tasty indeed.

Service was friendly, if a teensy bit slow, and the football was on the big screens, but you can sit around the corner if you don't want to be distracted by it so it wasn't a problem.

The only things stopping it getting a five star is that they could do with sprucing up the decor slightly, and the loos definitely.

I'll be checking out their Thursday night vinyl night (bring your own 7ins) soon!

Take a walk on the Dulwich side

The Gowlett pub rocks... I was there a few weeks ago with a friend, who told me that he knew a good place in East Dulwich doing a very good pizza. When he brought me into a pub, I laughed at him! I stopped laughing when I was served one of the best pizzas I ever had in London.

If you hate the tick, overblown "American style" pizzas and you favour the crisp, tasty base, then you should definitively pay a visit to this place and you won't be disappointed.

I don't give them the five * because unfortunately the choice on the menu is rather limited.

Apart from that, I had a wonderful pint of Adnams ale. But I have to say that I am not an authority in beer as in food ;-)

The atmosphere is friendly - not to locals only - and there are a couple of interesting other things such as a vintage Pac Man coin op - table version and a pool.
