Reviews for Ortega

Advisable place: good ambience, many delicious alternatives in food and drink, fantastic music... and Jelena, surely the nicest waitress in all the city of London.

So many places with tapas on the menu are a huge disappointment with flavourless tacky attempts at the Spanish fare but that is not the case at Ortega

We had Catalan style garlic bread with fresh tomato on, while we chose our dishes, which were:
white bait, grilled prawns in garlic, spanish omlette, paella, chorizo in red wine, goats cheese in orange blossom honey, chicken and red pepper skewers, patatas bravas, calamari, mushrooms in garlic butter and cream...all washed down with 2 bottles of a lovely light rose Rioja wine and sparkling water, all for £80 including tip!

The service was good, attentive and very friendly. The restaurant itself was warm, inviting and relaxed. For a Wednesday night it was really quite busy. I love the "cave" style areas downstairs that seat about 4/6 people, very atmospheric and a nice touch.

Def be going back here!

Recent addition to the Smithfield area and very welcome it is too seeing as it replaced Abbaye. Although part of a (small) chain of restaurants this excellently located tapas bar is nicely vibey and the food is great (and good value).. strongly recommend the dark rind goats cheese with orange blossom honey..

A little gem I've found - unlike most places in Farringdon, it is cheap and casual. Went here with some friends after work (we had planned to go to Beduin next door, but hadn't booked) and enjoyed some delicious sangria and tapas. We got a sharing plate of 6 different tapas (£20) and a jug of the sangria ($12), and sat in a nice booth downstairs. I love Spanish food and this was pretty good - not amazing, but very reasonably priced and fresh. The staff were friendly (albeit with poor Espanol) and the place was big enough to fit us in last minute, but still cosy and welcoming.
