Reviews for Bar Music Hall
An old renovated music hall the interior is as interesting as the crowd, artistic and eclectic the venue is surrounded by fashion, a thriving art scene and trendy creatives. Great music and wicked weekend dj sets.
They are connoisseurs in speciality Belgian beers, good selection of house spirits and the food is simple and honest (I love the home made chunky chips). Huge windows allow the space to be filled with light in the day so it's perfect for your daytime business meeting.
However, Friday night is suit night as they scuttle in form the City to celebrate the arrival of the weekend!
I am aware this place transforms at night into a more intense establishment but during the day its quite and nice to just order a tea or coffee and do some work on the laptop with their free WiFi. The layout is very spacious but I find the bar is unusually high, I’m 5’3” and even if it’s just my memory making me believe it was weirdly high, it gave you the impression of needing to tip toe.
The bar don’t send the tea to your table which made this even more stressful considering it’s a broad space and no tray was provided (thus a lot of balancing and walking slowly, which I’m sure was enjoyable to view from any passers by since the windows create a panoramic experience!)
Complimentary biscuit! Complimentary biscuit! Complimentary biscuit!
I think that sums up my experience…
This is one of the trendy bars that give Shoreditch its ‘hip place to be’ appeal. this is a converted victorian warehouse which makes it huge inside with dark wood floors, and a high ceiling. the bar is pewter and the bar stools are bright red leather which sets the place off to look call and warm. There are also lots of leather sofas to chill out on. The drinks are not cheap here but there is a vast choice from cocktails to wine to a good range of ales. There is a bar menu which is the standard style of pub food (the steak is good), again not cheap but worth the money and the portions are huge.
This place may deserve more stars, or less. I can't be entirely sure.
All I know is that I went to BMH late one saturday night and in the morning I was posiive I liked it and wanted to go back soon. That's really all i know.
I'm aware this is a really bad review so I WILL go back and then I will update this review once I do.
Bar Music Hall offers simple food - steaks, burgers, salads, sharing food, through to the enticingly entitled (especially for a Sunday) ´Hangover Cure Steak Sandwich´. A huge Victorian warehouse that was once Brick Lane Music Hall is now a funky European café bar specialising in cocktails and imported beers, particularly Belgian beers. Centrepiece of the vast space is a 120-foot central pewter bar above which huge wooden beams span the length of the room. An assortment of comfy banquette seating and sofas surround the bar together with plain wood tables and chairs. With live acts, fresh DJs and delicious food, Bar Music Hall is proving a huge hit in Shoreditch.
