Reviews for The Nags Head
I love this pub and attned the Wine Tasting events hoted by Sean Pines, as much as I can. They are once a month and tickets are bookable in advance by email. Often last Thursday in th onth. Very great fun very knowledgeable you will try wines from £8 - £40 a bottle. Cost is £6-£10 for tasting as Sean runs this as non profit and Nags Head offer the Space for free. SeeSean Pines on Facebook he has a listing dedicated to Wine.
I have friends in Hampstead who come along to The Nags and think they are still in Hampstead! What a find this pub is and it really does put Walthamstow Village on the map. Fabulous, especially in the summer, a definite no attitude pub, great mix of people, no hassle and a good choice of drinks. The only downsides are - they don't do food, no late licence and perhaps a little expensive on the price of around!
The Nags Head is in Walthamstow Village, not far from the tube station. For those hip trendy 30 somethings, this is the place to be! When we visited we sat out the front in the lovely garden which has heaters and they have draped fairy lights around the place. The owners are Flossie and Roger, and the pub itself has a good selection of ales and fruit Belgian beers, as well as wine by the glass.
They have wine tasting evenings once a month, but book up fast as they get busy!
The pub does not serve food but it does do a really good range of bar snacks including several different flavours of olives.
Plenty of tables with differently designed cloths on, plus big leather sofas and squashy poufs add to the relaxed atmosphere. They also have some amazing Jazz musicians there on a Sunday afternoon which is very popular.
Best thing going on in the area by far
Nice airy, modern pub with friendly inhabitants. Also a Bookcrossing centre/venue/whatever-people-call-these-places where you can leave old books to be read by others and, in your turn, pick up a tome to read yourself.
Nice place, friendly pub cat, good beer, but all babies and children must leave by 7pm
In Walthamstow, we're not exactly short of pubs (there are 4 just in our road), but The Nags Head is the only one worth making the effort to walk 20mins to! Excellent in the summer with the large modern courtyard beer garden, and in winter the adjoining outside marquee is heated to cater for the inevitable overspill. Live jazz is played every sunday afternoon, but the rest of the time the CD music is also very good (from Air to The Smiths). There is a good choice of beers, a growing wine list, and nice crisps! This pub is very popular during the weekends with 30 somethings with children, mainly because of the outdoor area and pleasant relaxed atmosphere.
