Reviews for The Bountiful Cow

I love Bountiful Cow, and have been several times when I have one of my beef frenzies.

Wonderful steaks, fries, burgers. It really is a beef place, not much if you dont want it!

But if you do, well, fantastic.

Staff are so lovely and friendly, recorded jazz playing in the background, upstairs booths which are really cosy, downstairs open tables and you get to watch the chefs working their magic.

Do check www.toptable.co.uk as they often have special offers too.

Came here last Saturday to redeem my toptable points which allows me to have a 3 course meal free of charge and it was an excellent choice indeed. I asked my mate Robbo to come along too as I thought it would be his kind of place - brown, sober colours, interesting art ( mainly of cows), tim taylor on tap and jazz tinkering in the background. It was really his kind of joing - and I liked it too although I much easier to please ;o).

The set menu had several choices for each course for me to choose from but unforunately not steak - which is the restaurant's speciality. The normal menu was short but perfectly formed and had a good selection of starters and mains. We had the salmon and the greek salad to start - both were huge portions and loved the feta and olives. After finishing these plates we wondered how we were going to put away the other plates. Robbo choose the rib eye steak and it came perfectly thick and cooked medium - he ordered rare wanting medium - always best thing to do. He enjoyed it immensely. I had ordered the sirloin steak sandwich as it was the closest thing to steak on my menu and did away with the bun. Was a beautiful cut of meat - so tender and flavoursome. Chips were okay and I had literally 2 portions on my plate - but who am i to complain about big portions! Topped off the meal with posh pistachio ice cream - I did not have space for it but what the heck it went down delightfully anyway.

The evening like the steak was perfect - great ambience, good bottle of malbec and excellent company. I will be sure to go back.

I went here with a friend only because Sway restaurant down the road was fully booked. I am very glad we found this place though. It is a small and intimate pub/restaurant, with a short but appetising menu (with a focus on beef as you would expect).
My friend and I both ordered the burger, which was one of the nicest I've had, and absolutely huge! The beef appeared lean and of good quality, and this makes all the difference with a burger.
We stayed late into the evening enjoying the house white which was reasonably priced. The staff were attentive and friendly.
I would recommend this restaurant for small groups or couples.

Like cows? Like to eat cows? This is the place for you. We stumbled across this gastropub while on the hunt for somewhere to have a leaving do, and instantly recognised The Bountiful Cow as a cozy, slightly silly place that exactly fitted the bill. Our main requirements were good food, cheap beer, nice atmosphere, and B.C. ticked the boxes. We were able to reserve the downstairs area for the group, and those that had full meals dubbed them excellent. As usual, I stuck to beer, but did sample their yummy sharing platters of bread & dips. As you might expect, they serve mainly burgers and steaks, but our vegetarians did find a few things on the menu for themselves. And did I mention the entire place is full of cow-themed decorations? Posters from Raging Bull, Andy Worhol-esque paintings of cows. . .every surface had something cow-related. Good if you like a certain amount of silliness. It made an impression on my co-workers; we're having another leaving do there later this month!
