Reviews for Milk And Honey
It's not usual to give five overall stars and five for food, service and ambience, but it's hard not to with Milk & Honey.
Let's begin from the end – Ambience. Milk & Honey has this magical quality of removing you completely from noisy Soho and London in general. You feel you’ve stepped back in time to a different place, solely dedicated to you enjoying some of London’s best cocktails, in cosy company, whether it is with friends or a date (I’d really recommend it if you’re going on a first date and are looking to impress, without risking something swanky or pretentious). Dark lighting, jazz that has the right balance between adding energy to the room and blending in the background and really comfortable booths for a group of up to 6.
Service. Exceptional in a word. The waiters know the menu very well and will happily recommend something if you cannot decide. Just tell them roughly what you’re after and you want be disappointed. The staff at the door is very friendly, making you feel welcome and comfortable from the start. This is the same on the phone. Milk and Honey is a members club, but anyone can reserve a table by calling before 5pm. They will do their best to help you.
Finally food. I hadn’t tried it in my previous visits, but I was blown away by its quality last time I went. Remember that we’re talking about bar snacks here, but the salt-rubbed lamb chops are right up there with the best I’ve tried. There were other memorable mentions I’m sure, but the quality of those chops was so high that I’m struggling to remember the other things (we had started quite early that day). I do remember that everything was really good, with only the portions of chips feeling a bit small and not spectacular.
So there you have it. One of central London’s and Soho’s finest hidden gems with amazing cocktails that stays open late (4am if you’re a member) and a place you’ll equally enjoy with friends or more romantic encounters. The last part applies if you go on a date. This is not the place to pick someone up and house rules strongly discourage male punters from approaching ladies. The reverse does not apply, so you never know...you may still get lucky. Unlikely though, so just go to enjoy the atmosphere, drink and food.
Been going since it opened along as part of The Player membership. Amazing cocktails, the staff are the most knowledgable in town. They have introduced me to many new and delicious cocktails. I highly recommend and suggest you phone and book that table in the 'red room'...
A gorgeous, exclusive and romantic spot that stands head and shoulders above every other drinking spot in this part of town. I'd be the first to admit it's probably not for everyone - it can be expensive, it's very dark (seriously, I had to use a torch to read the drinks menu) and depending on your point of view it sails dangerously close to pretension. But you'd have to have a heart of stone not to be impressed by the cocktails and the levels of service, and how incredible to find a place open until 1am in the center of London that is quiet enough for a normal conversation and doesn't charge £20 to get in.
Oh, there is that small matter of the membership of course. But if it's not too busy they won't chuck you out at 11pm, and booking ahead is a tiny price to pay for a reward so sweet.
Great place! It helped that we knew someone from inside.
It is a member bar so not sure how difficult it is to get in.
We had A-M-A-Z-I-N-G cocktails with extermely professional stories being told
on each drink! The place is a bit dark but it has good energy.
They have some house rules so ask before doing something silly...
the theme is prohibition time and this is why the place has no clear signs outside of it.
Milk & Honey is one of my favourite bars in London. I've been there a few times. love their house rules. I suppose it's tricky to go to without knowing anyone with the membership (which is £300 to join).
Their bartenders are quite talented, not only they make excellent cocktails (also non-alcoholic cocktails). Sometimes you can tell them what mood you're in, and they can make you something off the menu. Talk about creativity! Okay, so it's about £7 for one but it's worth it. My favourites are "Cubanada" (Cuban Rum with Canadian Maple Syrup) and "Honey Smash" (strawberry, hoeny and vodka).
The pretentious rich guy next table could be annoying when you know he's just trying to impress his date with this exclusive members only club. Other than that, I love Milk & Honey.
Very noirish and the members rule is truly a dampner. Had to perch on a table near the bar but the staff were friendly. We did feel that we did have to leave after a certain time (even though we were not told to leave - we got the vibe),which was a shame. The cocktails were good even the non alcoholic ones which they made up for us. Great if you want to go somewhere different from the normal bars and pubs (like digress - urgh!)
Lynch movie?!! LOL, yeah i guess it has a 40's noir feel about it, which is its greatest asset. it feels naughty to be drinking there, and for that feeling alone its worth 5 stars. lost 1 star for me with the pretencious members only bit. Having already spent nearly 100 quid early doors I object to being made unwelcome after a certain time, and kind of put a dampner on the whole evening. MnH, you lost about £250, which we spent elsewhere that night, and how much more in the future???
It's like a being in a Lynch movie.... have to be in the mood. Special but not special enought to be a Members club.
Quiet, Dark and serves amazing Cocktails.
Don't go there if you want to flash your cash, meet celebs or if you like Digress.
