Reviews for De Hems

A great selection of beers (including the frankly, lethal, Fruli ;) ) but does tend to get packed, given its location.

In the heart of Theatreland, great for a post-show drink.

Fantastic dutch pub with fantastic internal beers and the best bitterballen ever! If you've never tried Bitterballen, a dutch snack then you must- although not if you;re a vegetarian!

The place is chilled out (if a bit hot inside on warmer days, oxymoron alert!). If peckish try the chips with lashings of peanut sauce and mayo. Quite a nice way to soak up some of the beers on tap. With the Euro's (2008) going on at the moment, this is usually rammed with dutch fans (from memory of euro 2004)

De Hems is a historic bar, located just off Shaftesbury Avenue, on the edge of China Town. It was built back in 1890, though was home to a tavern prior to that as well.

The bar specialises in Dutch & Belgium beers, with several on tap. It also has a pretty tempting sounding food menu.

Set over two stories, this is quite a lively pub, which is apparently 'the' place to go when there is a Dutch football game on.

Quite possibly the best Dutch Pub in London. Great food and lots of Belgian beer including cherry Liefmans (Mmm, yummy!).

The place is packed and extremely hot on Weekends, but it's ok during Weekdays and if you're lucky enough, you might find an empty leather sofa to go with your drink!!!

Lots of nice Belgian beer on tap so worth a visit. As others have noted it can get quite busy, smoky and noisy, especially on fridays when a lot of out of towners seem to drink here. But, overall definately not a bad place to get a drink in central London.

Great place to get Belgian beer; they usually have something interesting (e.g. Kriek) on tap, as well as lots more in bottles. As others have said, it's usually pretty crowded. Quite dark inside too. In the summer they open up the front wall to let the air in. There's a bookable upstairs room which used to (possibly still does) host comedy nights.

Sorry for giving it no stars - the stars thingy doesn't seem to be working for me (Firefox on OS X).

Hi Kake, I noticed you've added stars to your last 2 reviews. If you'd like to add star rating to the De Hems Dutch Bar all you have to do is click on "edit review" from your "reviews" in your profile page.

Thanks walid; I was looking for an edit link on the review itself. I think the stars problem must have been a one-off.
walid at 25/02/07
...actually the stars are a bit tricky to click right, but it is something we're looking at fixing. Thanks for joining TrustedPlaces, if you have any questions feel free to let me know ;-)

Yep, I experimented a bit more and realised that the problem as that you actually have to click slightly to the right of the fourth star if you want to select it!
