It was in the Anglesea Arms that the most talked about British Theft of the 20th Century was plotted. Bruce Reynolds conspired with an associate to mastermind The Great Train Robbery. Today, The Anglesea Arms is a pub that serves a variety of modern European dishes as well as pub snacks. They also provide catering for vegetarians and seating on the terrace area is provided, weather permitting.

Reviews for The Anglesea Arms

I love this place for meeting family and friends.

Lovely dining area for really good food prepared by some talented chefs.

A huge blackboard in the dining area is always full of delicious seasonal dishes.

The Anglesea has a great wine list and a fine selection of whiskys.

There is small seated area on the pavement to catch summer sun. In the winter a seat by the open fire is hard to beat!

Really friendly staff.

Can get full of some right knobs though.

This is a gastro pub which is located in a beautiful setting, and serves the most wonderful food. I had avoided it for years, it previously had a bad reputation in the area for atrocious service, however i am very pleased to say that is now no longer true. The staff were friendly, approachable and couldn't do enough to make us happy. There is a relatively large choice of meals and several specials on the boards so everyone will be happy with the choices available. The food is delicious and although not cheap, well worth it. If i were you, forget the previous reputation and give it a try!

I have been to the Anglesea on a number of occasions and every time the food has been first class. Small Blackboard written menu that always has something for everyone, great wine and lovely ambience.

You can't book tables so it means you have to turn up early but then you can always have a drink at the bar.

If there is a fault it is that the tables are crammed in and it can get too busy but after a couple of drinks you don't realise.

Even the service which was notorious about 2/3 years ago is now very strong. Can't recommend highly enough.

The Anglesea is everything a gastro pub should be - simple food using great ingredients that are really well prepared.

It was very busy on a Saturday night, but we managed to get a table by sending in an advance party.

There was some pressure to order quckly, but this wasn't a major problem given that the menu is short, a choice of four starters and four mains if I recall.

I enjoyed a Duck terrine followed by roast pheasant.

A nice pub in residential Kensington with a nice crowd. One of my top locals !

Especially nice in the summer when you can sit on the tables outside !

Excellent food with a nice crowd

I do love a good gastropub and I had read that the Anglesea Arms was one of the best in West London. So when we needed somewhere to go for lunch one weekend, and happened to be in the area, it seemed like the perfect time to try it out for myself.

The pub is located in a residential street, with renovated coloured terraces and beautiful blossom trees. It is just the type of local you would want. Friendly and cosy, huge comfy sofa by the fire place and a small dining area dishing up fabulous food. No reservations are taken, so get there early.

We arrived around 12.30pm and were in luck - a nice little table was available for us. We took a seat and checked out the blackboard menu while munching on the complimentary fresh-baked bread. Service was friendly and relaxed and the atmosphere was great.

I decided on the Fish & Chips, with Mushy peas. It was tasty and perfect for lunch. My husband, as usual, ordered the most delicious thing on the menu - the Roast Gloucester Old Spot Pork Belly, with mustard mash, savoy cabbage and apple sauce. The pork just melted in your mouth. We shared a dessert - the Sticky Date Pudding, with Butterscotch sauce and Vanilla ice-cream. MMmmmm...it was one of the best I have had, the sauce being particularly good.

I am slightly loathed to write a review in case too many people come along here.

It is a phenomenal restaurant at the back. Quality quality fresh ingredients. You cannot book :(. It is also a v. cozy, real fire warmed, quality beer fuelled pub. There's a few dodgy geezers at the bar, probably chatting to a barrister and BBC exec.

The one problem is the weekends. It is 1) very busy and 2) you get a few too many Nathan Barely types.
