Following the fire that gutted it in 2005, The Havelock Tavern is now open again, offering an inspired selection of modern, reasonably priced dishes which change daily, in a relaxed yet busy atmosphere. It looks like it is immediately back to its old self - so that means arriving early to bags a table to avoid disappointment. They also have a carefully assembled wine list with a choice of eight by the glass.

Reviews for The Havelock Tavern

I haven't been this neck of the woods for a few years, and not been here since it re-opened, but a few years back when I worked around the corner this was a regular haunt. Really decent food and modest prices. I'm sure it is even nicer now people can't smoke as that used to be a problem. Only downside is that it's a bit of a trek if you aren't a local.

Often busy so best to get early or late. Good food with large helpings. Friendly staff and good atmosphere.

I find it quite ironic that I found myself going today to The Havelock Tavern not remembering that Ladis19 had been there himself. I unfortunately didn't have the pleasure of having some "Bavette" (Ooooh do I love this) but instead had some other form of tasty tender beef (see picture). The thing about the Havelock Tavern is that it's eclectic menu changes twice a day every day, thus you never quite know what to expect. The chef though (see picture) is both an excellent cook, has a good sense of humor, happy to be photographed, and seems to enjoy listening to hip hop in his kitchen.

The customers at the Havelock Tavern are really of all ages, now I came during mid day for a lunch and thus didn't have the same experience as Ladis19, as I came out with the impression that this was more of a family gastro pub than one for a tad pretentious clientele. The staff are very friendly and diligent. However if you do go there, make sure to take cash or a cheque book, as they don't accept cards in the traditional sense of a pub.

I was taken to this restaurant / pub for my birthday back in July and thought it deserved a little review for all you French people out there dying for a good piece of steak. This place serves “BAVETTE”. I have lived in London for 6.5 years and it is the first place I have ever found that serves it. Not only is it available, it is also scrumptiously good. It leaves you with the ever-familiar taste of “revenez-y”. You just keep wanting more.

some of the clientelle can be a tad pretentious but then again, the restaurant is in the triangle between Olympia, Brook Green and Shepherd's bush. Don't worry about the atmosphere, decor and all, just go for the food.

Oh yes and we are constantly dying for a GREAT Bavette, so glad you've found a place that serves scumptiously good bavette. Have you been to Le Relais De Venise L'Entrecote? Check out my review of it if you've not been there. It's part of the same small chain that runs "Le Relais de L'Entrecte" in Paris.
