The Cambria

Personally, I find the interior decor a bit over the top for my tastes, and the place could really benefit from some comfy sofas scattered around, rather than the rather eccentric mix of straight-backed wooden chairs and one weird-looking embroidered chaise-lounge thing....
Reviews for The Cambria
We've had Sunday lunch here a couple of times, and both times have really enjoyed it. It's not the cheapest place in the world, but the food is really good, and the beer garden out back is lovely on a sunny day.

Gets a bit busy with prams and suchlike on nice days, but the staff are very pleasant, the music is nice and apparently they do good live music during the week.
What a great place...jazz night last monday was the best yet, the band was on fire, Roberto on the sax is briliant, and as for the singer, words can not do her justice, she's back on monday i've been told and i for one can not wait..
dinner and chill, what a great way to start the week.
Recently The Cambria changed ownership and had a massive face-lift. But beyond the crystal chandaliers, mix-matched furniture and eclectic art-gallery accessories, this gastro pub is an incospicious gem that doesn't fail to surprise. After strolling in for a casual drink on a rainy Friday evening, we were greeted by a very friendly bar staff and even friendlier proprietor who tended to all our needs.
We salivated profusely over every plate of food served to nearby tables and decided to revisit The Cambria on Sunday for a proper Sunday lunch. Everything we ordered was impeccable - being a veggie I'm always skeptical of Sunday lunch veggie alternatives but the cashew nut roast on a bed of roasted vegetables and veggie gravy with a scrummy yorkshire pudding wiped all my preconceptions in an instant. The Argentinian red wine the owner recommended for our dishes completed the feast perfectly.
After undoing the top two buttons of our trousers, we decided not to take defeat and move on to desert. The apple and rhubarb crumble with caramelised ginger was to die for and so was the organic vanilla-pod ice-cream dressed with a sticky raisin sherry. Needless to say we had to crawl out of there in under the influence of a mild food-comma but would we do it again? Already pencilled in for next Sunday.
Hidden on a side street off Herne Hill Road, this pub is quite unexpected. They've a comprehensive selection of lagers on tap, alongside a substantial (and good value) range of food.
They do a variety of discounts throughout the week, like half price meals on Wednesday and 2 roasts for £11 on Sundays.
It might not be the best pub in the world, but it's great compared to the competition!
