This is a great cocktail bar. The restaurant food is good - sort of tapas-style (but not tapas food) but the service is dire and it is loud so think of it as an add-on to a great bar rather than a restaurant per se. It is quite Eurotrashy but none the worse for having some nicely dressed-up Italians and they make the best cocktails of anywhere in the area except perhaps E&O, but with a much funkier vibe. It's open late (which must be miserable for the people who live on the lovely street) and as it's technically a pub there's no stupid door policy.

So I went to the Lonsdale for a date earlier this week. It was such a shame it was on a Monday night because I really wanted to sample more of the wonderful cocktails at this bar! I started off with an elderflower martini and then proceeded onto a lychee cocktail and a couple of shots.
As well as superb cocktails, the food is excellent - the burger definitely gets my vote. I also got to see Sav, the deceptionist, who I believe usually works there on a Wednesday. Even if the drinks and food weren't excellent, I'd certainly go just to see him! I'd give this a 5/5... it's only a shame I couldn't say the same for my date!

One night we headed to Notting Hill for a fancy dinner. Before our meal we wanted to relax over a drink or two, so headed to the Lonsdale. The Lonsdale is a stylish bar with that 'wow factor' when you first walk in. At the front there is a cocktail bar and to the rear is a restaurant. The restaurant area is very cool looking, with pink glowing lights shining around the walls. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the bar was thankfully not too smoky when we visited.

I had a classic Vodka Martini and my husband got a little adventurous with an Elderflower Martini. Mine was not the best martini I had ever had, but it did the job. His was pretty tasty though and I may have helped him drink it.

If you are looking for somewhere a little funky to meet friends or to take that special someone, you could do a lot worse than the Lonsdale.
