Greenwich Union Pub, Royal Hill, Greenwich. Visited 26/2/09. Small friendly pub with it's own microbrewery. Beers sampled were unusual and delicious (especially my Raspberry thingy one! Yum). There are very good tasting notes which I always find helpful in choosing an untried beer. The food menu looked good too and we intend to try eating here next time we visit.

The beer garden is cute little court yard out the back and is a great summer escape, in the winter the warm and comfy interior is still a winner. the wine is good, but the micro brewery and imported beers are the reason to go! Always a winner! Usually packed!

The Union in Greenwich has a lot going for it. Firstly, it's on Royal Hill, which is pretty much the nicest part of Greenwich in my opinion - there's another great pub next door, a proper old-style butchers, deli, fruit shop etc. Plus it's right next to the park. Secondly, it's a pub from the award-winning Meantime brewery, - you won't find any Fosters or Becks here. Plus, these beers are all ace - my favourites are the Wheat beer and the Raspberry beer. Thirdly, it has a really great garden with loads of benches and heaters - perfect for lazy summer afternoons, or if you smoke. The food I've tried isn't outstanding but is good quality pub food. The only problem is it's wildly popular with Greenwich Uni students so can be mobbed on the weekends.

The Greenwich Union is my local of choice, offering awesome beer from the Meantime Brewing Company (and others), an excellent lunch menu, and a garden out the back.
