Reviews for The Phoenix
And it's right in the tourist/pikey Oxford Street zone! As mentioned, a really nice bar on the ground level, food is served upstairs but I've never eaten here. A young crowd in the bar, friendly as well (bar staff are too), and there' a big club downstairs too. Went to a night called Heavy Load and it's effing brilliant-70's Southern USA rock (think Led Zeppelin, Black Crowes etc) with a really friendly crowd. Is 4 stars for the bar, 5 stars for Heavy Load!
The Phoenix is a cosy pub located one block back from Oxford Street, near Oxford Circus. It is a great place to pop into for a drink after a busy day shopping on Oxford Street.
I have only had drinks in the street level bar, and enjoyed the atmosphere with loads of large candles flickering around the room. They do serve food, which I haven't tried as yet.
Pub appeal upstairs, bar downstairs. The Phoenix often have good DJ nights downstairs. I was there last year for St. Patrick's Day and had a great time!
More a bar than a pub, despite the priciness this is an enjoyable venue. Good decor and a nice vibe, with decent music and table football to boot! Oh, and it serves Budvar Dark (mmmm). Good for birthdays or other special occasions.
