Tasty Bar!
This place is great. I come here a couple of times a week. Its great for Breakfast and coffee (nice cookies on offer at the moment), a quick snack after work and getting a gut full on a friday. DJ plays once or twice a month on a friday.
I found out it had A dining room/lounge upstairs. Nice and chilled for a more intemate evening. Food wasn't bad either!
It looks really shabby from the outside but who looks after a couple!

Full of tasty food and young professionals
I love the Elgin. It is the quintessential corner pub that has transformed itself from a stuffy, smoky, old man's hangout to a contemporary, relaxed but lively gastropub.
The decor is modern and the flat screen TVs are avidly watched by sports fans during the big sporting events. For those people without a sporting interest, the large windows give a good view on the street outside.
The food is wonderful - general pub food (salads, sandwiches, pasta, burgers) but all very nicely done and presented. The cappuccinos are excellent - as I discussed with my friend today, they are probably the best I have had in a pub.
Generally the staff are friendly and responsive.
Free wifi is the icing on the cake.

Elgin Marbles (lost)
This is, in general, an excellent bar, apart from the manager.
I stood in the public bar area, whilst he stood behind the counter doing absolutely nothing. In the mean time he allowed a, very slightly built, member of his female staff, to manhandle 24 heavy bottles of beer up a very narrow and steep ladder of stairs.
When I suggested he should help, he said that, ' I was the second ''nutter'' that he had spoken to him today and promptly barred me (although he waited until I went in the next day to tell me).
This is a local pub I have frequented, without previous incident, for over four years and, indeed, I have played for the ad-hoc sports teams that were occasionally organized by the previous manager (who was excellent).
He is also blocking me from contacting the owners who, initially, also spent time on the premises and I know personally.
I, for one, will spend my time and money at other local businesses until he 'moves on'.
