Doggett's is named after Thomas Doggett, a well known comedian, actor, theatre manager, author and wit of the 17th century. The pub consists of four floors of completely different bars, suitable for relaxing lunchtimes or lively evenings. They serve traditional yet innovative pub food which is reasonably priced. Catering for private parties of up to 120 guests is available in 3rd floor terrace bar (with own external terrace and stunning views). Famous for Pies and Ales. Sports bar with pool tables and sky. Large outside areas and external bar and BBQ in the summer.

Opening Hours: 10am to 11pm

Reviews for Doggett's Coat & Badge

An excellent pub on the River Thames with views across London. The meals are good quality and good value, although serving times do vary according to how busy they are. My recommendation is the Chicken Leek & Whilthire Ham Pie, served with creamy mash and veg.

There are four floors to this bar, with at least two usually open. The ground floor is large and leads out to a patio garden with parasols and patio heaters. The first floor is the sports bar with Large TVs, pool table and table football. The 2nd floor is the dining room, although you can order and eat at any table in the pub. The top floor is an open patio looking out over the Thames. Unfortunately we have not been able to use this as yet, as it is rarely open, a real shame considering the views that would be available.

All in all a good pub, reasonable music, reasonable price, and a quiz machine!

Back in the day, the Doggetts Coat and Badge Pub, right on the junction of Blackfriars Bridge and the Bankside walk, used to be dominated by city types - deserted most of the morning, by 11.30 the suits would begin to descend on the pub and remain there until 3.30, whereupon it would be deserted again until 5.30.

If you weren't in that club, there was little point coming in.

Now it's become a much more tourist friendly habitat - very few suited types around, a nice smattering of families using the table overlooking the Thames, a vast array of different nationalities all enjoying the bespoke beers, a bottle of coke and even one of their fine sandwiches.

Particularly recommended is the Steak Sandwich combo - cheap, well presented, tasty, and speedily delivered, even at the height of the day, it's heartily recommended.

Doggetts is a great pub, spread over 4 floors with a roof terrace and plenty of outside seating at the back and front. The second floor is a sports bar with screens and pool tables and it is possible to hire the top bar for functions (with great views over the river).

But the best thing about this pub is that it is a specialist pie house selling a good range of British pies and mash daily - yum, yum!
