Established for more then 50 years, The Grenadier looks like the perfect picture postcard English pub and is discreetly hidden away in an exclusive Belgravia mews. While the food is reliable and based on British cuisine, the Bloody Mary's are practically world famous. You can eat at the bar or in the restaurant, but it is often crowded. Catering for private parties of up to 12 guests is available for upon request and seating on the pavement area is provided, weather permitting.

Reviews for The Grenadier

a cute quaint traditional pub minus the ubuqious slot machine (thankfully) that even a non-pub person like myself could appreciate. Tucked away in a cosy mews, it feels like stepping back in time, complete with gorgeous victian street lamps. We had cider outside and enjoyed the last of the summer sun in an idlyic setting. It's definately a place I would take friends from home to and is a nice hideaway from the bustling high street

Want a pub to show johnny-foreigner what a proper British pub is all about? Take your friends from overseas to The Grenadier and I think they will get the picture.

The Grenadier is ridiculously hidden away down a small private road just off Belgrave Square. Even with a map in my hand I stood at the entrance to the small cobbled lane thinking, well it can't be down here, how can my map be so wrong.

The beer is good and you can stand out on the street (they give you a plastic glass).

Part of me isn't too happy to share the knowledge of this pub with everyone because it is a hidden treasure trove and more to the point it isn't very big. After reading this review you really should reciprocate with your hidden treasures too!

This is one of my favourite London pubs, tucked away in a little mews between Wilton Crescent and Knightsbridge, five minutes from Hyde Park Corner. One wouldn't find it without knowing about it, so it has a peculiar clientele of locals and better-informed tourists who've read about the atmosphere - it was once the mess of the Grenadier Guards, and is reputedly haunted by the ghost of an officer. It's dark, wood-panelled and full of military memorabilia. The food is average at best and occasionally dodgy - despite which, it seems to be worth booking at lunchtimes as the dining room at the back is usually full. However, the beer is good and they do an excellent Bloody Mary.

Is it still one of Madonna's favourite little hidey-holes? Or is it safe for real people to go there now..?
:o)
