Reviews for Old Station House

Really relaxed atmosphere with fantastic food and wine, what more could you want in a local.
The recent independant makeover of what was previously a chain pub is very much welcomed by all us locals.
The venue has undergone a sympathetic makeover, lovely soft leather sofas, zinc tables and two open fires have replaced the fruit machines, discount banners and retro Victorian tat.
The quality of service, wine, food and beers are all first class and a massive improvement.
Leffe, Staropramen and London Pride (our local brew)are all well presented.
Highly recommended

Sunday lunch and I had a craving for fish & chips, so we headed to a brand new F&C restaurant in Chiswick. But we got there and it was closed. Hmmm.... conveniently there was another place on my "Lunch To Do List" just two minutes walk away, the Old Station House, a recently renovated pub located next to Chiswick British Rail station.

Post-renovation, the Old Station House is now more gastropub than pub. It has a large bar area, with an attractive fire place and lots of comfy leather sofas to relax in. It looks like the perfect place for a party and plenty of red wine. The restaurant section is not quite as successful, with too many tables crammed in. Overall, I did like the look of the place though, and was hopeful for a tasty lunch.

Ok, not happy with the laminated menu. More pub chain than gastropub. Now I was worried. We decided to stick with something safe, both ordering the Rib-eye steak with potato gratin, watercress & béarnaise sauce (though I asked for chips instead of the potato). The steak was fine, cooked as requested, chips/potato were ok, nice salad (no sign of the aforementioned watercress), béarnaise was terrible.

If I lived down the road from the Old Station House I would certainly return there for drinks, and I must say that the Charcuterie Platter, that the neighbouring table ordered, looked pretty good, though for a Sunday lunch there are much better options closer to home.
