Reviews for The Princess Of Wales
On a sunny day this is the place to be. There's lots of garden space in the back (has gas heaters), a few wooden benches so you can sit out the front or failing that you can get them to put your pints in a plastic cup and take them to sit on the heath and lap up the British sunshine. That is definitely the selling point of this pub - that you can sit and drink on the heath at the height of summer. I've spent many a-afternoon sitting outside on the heath in the sun.
The Princess of Wales has to be one of the best places to get a pint on a sunny day in Blackheath. The pub usually spills out the door and often onto the heath itself like a mini festival. But it's also a great pub to go to on a Friday night for a spot of good honest grub. I can report that the steak and ale pie with mash is a delight. And the cottage pie is pretty good too (although my boyfriend says it doesn't match mine). I only knock a star off my rating because service can be very slow and there is a strangely haphazard arrangement of chairs, sofas and tables which sometimes put you off eating there.
