This is one of my frequent "hangouts" in Angel. Being a foreigner, I love the "traditional" English looking pubs. I haven't ate there so I can't review for the food. One thing that bugs me is that they don't carry Magners/Bulmers instead they carry this Strongbow extra smooth crap.

Funny story, there's one time as my friend and i walked into the pub. A random guy stopped him at the door and asked if he was Gael Garcia Bernal. After that we have an inside joke and started spreading rumours that it's one of Gael Garcia's favourite hangout whenever he's in town (shhhhh! don't tell anyone)

Lovely patio in the summer, like qwghim mentioned below the poetry and comedy nights are worth checking out.

One of the few pubs in Islington that's actually nice, and which I regularly return to. Comfy and well-maintained inside, with tables outside in the summer. Food's not bad either - had a nice lunch there the other day. The staff can be a bit sluggish at times - you need to be a bit pushy to get their attention. The upstairs holds regular poetry and comedy nights which are also worth going to.
