This is said to be the remains of an original Roman bath, although historians and archaeologists have never been able to prove it. It is believed that it was a plunge bath filled from the adjacent Holy well. The bath itself measures 15ft 1/2" by 6ft 1/2", the bricks are 9" by 5". There have been Roman finds in the immediate neighbourhoods. It is believed that it was built by the Earl of Essex in 1588. Admission fees apply.
