Reviews for The Tower Of London
The famous tower of london is a magnet for every tourist who visits london and you can see why. It is great, full of lots of things to see and enjoy, the beautiful collection of crowns and jewels is well worth looking at.
The white tower is good, but part of the outside is being renovated so it is slightly hidden from view.
The beefeaters are great. You can tag along on one of the regular tours that they do and they tell you all those little things you would not have learned otherwise. They are fun to listen to and it all adds up to a better experiences you have a few facts to remember.
You can buy a ticket that allows you to go again and this is a good idea as you really need more than one day to see it all. We are so lucky to have it.
The tower of london is a good day out for families , with some thing for all to see. The white tower is full of interesting stuff, including some wonderful suits of armor and also has a hands on room for kids to have a go at archery and sword play, etc. The walkway which you can go along on the outside wall gives you a great view of the world beyond the tower. There were display going on when we were there including, sword fighting, archery and other cool stuff. The entrance fee is fair considering you also get to see the crowns of england and all the other jewels too. Would really like to re visit it soon as there was lots we missed.
The tower of london is so imposing and the kids really enjoyed our recent visit here. We had a half price entry ticket with our tube ticket so that saved quite a lot of money. The crown jewels are a must see, they are breath taking and the way they are laid out is very good and easy for you to see. The white tower has some fantastic stuff on show including henry the 8's armor and a gallery full of beautiful carved wooden full sized horses. The bloody tower is interesting too, but quite cramped so visit it on a cooler day, as the ques are always quite long to get in and it does get quite stuffy and hot. The restaurant is a bit pricey but you can take food with you if you are going for the whole day, so much to see here you will need to stay a while to see it all.
The Tower Of London is a very interesting tourist destination. It is very easy to find, right next to the Tower Bridge. I was surprised to find the Tower of London is actually not a tower, but a whole castle complex :-) I did no research before going. I would definitely recommend waiting for one of the free tours which leave very regularly from the front entrance. The tour guides are very knowledgeable and the good thing is you can leave the tour anytime you like and join any tour group whenever you like to. Make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to see everything as there is a lot to see! And also make sure you get a map, which is very good and has everything marked on it. Make sure you don't miss the crown jewels which have a lot of details about the history. A little expensive but that's to be expected at tourist attractions in London!
No matter how many times we visit here, we always enjoy it, and there seems to be something new to see every time! From murder and intrigue to glistening crown jewels, the Tower has it all. Make sure you allow several hours there, you will definitely need that. Lost a star because of the cost!
When you walk around the stone walls of the Tower of London and look inwards towards the historic buildings you really begin to appreciate how much history is wrapped up in this place and how beautiful it all is.
I have been here twice now.
The first time we guided ourselves around and thought we had seen everything there was to see using a sort of map and a written guide.
The second time we went we took the plunge and tagged onto one of the guided tours around the tower by one of the guards and it was brilliant.
We seemed to have missed so many things when we originally went around alone that the guard now pointed out for us and he also told us many stories behind the history of the tower and little incidents that happened in various places along the tour that we had.
A definite highlight was seeing the crown jewels, although you can’t stay there too long looking at them because you stand on a conveyer belt to be taken along in front of them.
At least it allows everyone to have a look.
Tower of London is definitely worth seeing at least once. It is set in the very picturesque part of London. The views from outside and of course inside are breath taking. I recommend waiting for the guided tours if you are into historical reasoning. The "statue guards" are just awesome. How they can sit still on horses for that long I will never know. You can spend as much or as little time as you wish. However, I do fel that this is quite a costly outing for a family and may be worth doing when there are 2 for 1 type offers on.
Decided to use a spare afternoon to visit the Tower of London and was not disappointed. The free map was more then adequate to get us around once we were in, and the exhibits were well laid out, for adults as well as children.
The visit to see the crown jewels was very well organised, with a series of rooms leading you through some of the history with films to explain the background of then. I expected to feel rushed through, or for it to be so crowded that you can't move, but it was actually a rather leisurely stroll. Maybe we got lucky, but although the whole site seemed busy, there weren't the hordes in the jewel room that I'd anticipated. To go past the jewels themselves you stand on moving walkways but they have been calibrated to go at a reasonable speed, so there's plenty of tie to see everything.
The stories of the various prisoners held at the Tower at one time or another were also another highlight of the visit. Individual stories told clearly, with context explained brought the helplessness that they must have felt vividly to life.
A really fun visit, even if you don't have children.
it has been a great experience out and out, one of my freinds told me dat it wud be a good experience to get this one on the london pass which gives good healthy discounts, but did not have the time for dat so jus went in. Well london is a busy city, hustling and bustling with tourists and people from all walks of life, i not trying to portray a grim picture here but be prepared to wait in queues, i was mistakingly told dat the kohinoor diamond from Shah Jahan the guy who built the taj mahal was kept here, but dats not the case, it has the crown jewels and dats a good enuf feat, a good look at it pleased and made my day. I hope you all will ve fun and hope that you found this review useful. cheers, bye bye. have a nice day.
The Tower of London is a huge historical landmark in London. Situated on the river next to Tower bridge it stands imposingly over the city. The Tower is famous for its Yeomen Warders more commonly known as beefeaters who are very knowledgeable about The Tower and general history of London. It's ravens who are fabled in legend that if they ever leave the tower the monarchy and kingdom will fall. The crown jewels are held in the tower in a large vault known as the jewel house. They are there to veiw permenantly and are only removed for special occasions and cleaning. There are many tours round the tower by the Yeomen warders and this will usually include a tour of the jewel house at extra cost. The tower is very expensive to visit but if you are a visitor to London it would be rude not to go and see it for yourself
