Reviews for London Eye
Recently spent a weekend in London with my daughter, the views from the London Eye are spectacular, you can spot most of the major attractions, and the embankment provides lots of street entertainers and restaurants for food. Recommend you book tickets online line,we stood in line for 15 mins prior to the flight. Highly recommend to all for future visits.
This is a must see place to visit for any one visiting London. Located by the Thames next to the Houses of Parliament the whole journey for the wheel to complete a revolution takes about 30 minutes – but what a journey!! The tickets are very expensive, but the views from the top are breath taking where you can see the whole of London laid out before you.
The best tip that I can give is to buy the map/guide before you get onto the capsule for the journey. The reason is that once at the top, the capsule is marked out North, South etc. So at the top, you can open the map, face a direction and use the map to locate and identify the landmarks you see before you. Many people wait until they get off before they do this, but then it is too late.
The London Eye is fantastic - i would advise anyone to go out for the day and take a trip on here. The wheel rotates very slowely so if u suffer from vertigo etc then its a nice and gentle ride, and you will find that there is really nothing to be afraid of. The pods are very spacious and the view is breath taking - especially at night with the whole of london lit up. Absolutly stunning and breath taking. This trip is an absolute must! Close to shops and excellent resturants - it really would make an excellent day out - so take a trip to the London Eye!
Where else can you get views like this of the london skyline.
it realy is a delight, you live here for all these years and forget how wonderfull some parts of london are.
this is quite expensive and you might not want to do it more than once ,but everone should try it that once.
some good advice is to make sure you book in advance because if not you will spend a long time in lines waiting...
and dont forget this takes around 30 mins to go all the way around so sit back and enjoy and take in all that london has to offer (and take in the great views of the houses of parliment, the river, the wonderful brigdes and big ben)
We had a fantastic experience on the London Eye (despite usually being scared of heights I found I could cope OK with it!). Our 2 children aged 7 & 5 enjoyed it immensely too, especially trying to spot all the sights.
We took my mother-in-law with us. As she is registered disabled we were whisked through to the front of the queue. We found the treatment of disabled passengers was excellent compared to many other attractions we have visited.
On the downside the queues can be huge, but the views make it worthwhile.
A good place to vist, get a good veiw of the whole of london from up high really is an experiance.
It's £13.50 for 30 mins which isn't that long but i can't see you wanting to be up there any longer.
Can get rather busy so i would reccomemnd u booking otherwise u will end of standing in a big queue which isn't advisable especially if u have the kids with u as they will be bored before u even get on it.
I first visited the london eye when it very first opened, and i will warn you now that was a mistake. I had not pre booked or anything and ended up queing for a very very long time. I believe at busy periods, such as the peek torism weeks of july/august it can still get very busy, so try and book ahead.
however once you are in the capsules the views are stunning, and you can see the majority of the most famous london building such as parliment, MI5 etc. My first visit had a guide who pointed out key attractions, but when i went again this had been dropped. Well worth a visit!
A great attraction and one London should be proud of.
£15 a ticket to have a 30minute panoramic view of the Capital - Wow!
i have been several times, mostly with friends from overseas. the best times have been at sunset/dusk when the city really gets going.
Queuing times vary - sometimes you can wait an hour but other time only 5 minutes. Prebook tickets to get a shorter queue, rather than trying to book tickets on the day.
I have visited the London eye on several occasions and they have all been very enjoyable. You purchase your tickets from a building opposite the Eye, once receiving your tickets you then line up at the bottom of the eye itself. Every time I have been to the Eye there have been substantial queues. There are guards there who search you and your belongings but this is done with no problems. Safety and security is very high at this attraction.
When you eventually get on the London eye, at first you can only see the Thames and surrounding buildings, although when you move up higher you get to see sites such as Buckingham palace (the queens home), Big Ben and many other major land marks. You are able to move around the pod so that you can see all the sites. The rides duration is about 30 minutes towards the end of the experience you have your photograph taken. When you exit the Eye you can purchase your photograph at a reasonable price.
The eye is also accessible for the disabled as the staff will stop the eye so that they can get on safely. Each pod has an alarm inside so that if there is an emergency you can get off with ease.
I think that the Eye is great way of seeing the sites of London and a unique opportunity.
I went on a trip on the London Eye with my family soon after it first opened. There was a variety of ages in a group, from a 9 year old right through to a 70 year old.
I have to say it was enjoyed more by the older people, the younger people got bored after only a few minutes and would have appreciated doing something a little more active.
The carriage size is quite big, it was surprising! You also can have your photo taken when you are about 3/4 of the way round. The only downside to this is if you are sharing a pod with people you don't know you only get one photo taken for the whole pod.
It was quite good though but I wouldn't do it again.
