Simply Heathcotes on Beetham Plaza serves Modern British local food such as Roast Wood Pigeon and Goosnargh Duck.
The food is very accomplished, the menus change regularly and service is friendly and professional.
Prices are about £6 - £7 for starters and desserts and £13 - £27 for mains.

Simply Heathcotes is very family friendly, toddlers under 3 eat for free, and the kids menu with classics such as sausage and mash, fish and chips or pasta dishes is great value for £7.50 incl dessert and drink.

The downsides: the huge glass expanse means you feel a bit like sitting in a goldfish bowl at night. Weekday lunchtime lacks of atmosphere as it is mainly frequented by business lunches.
And the staff seem to group customers together even when the restaurant is not busy...
