Reviews for Sapporo Teppanyaki
The food is brilliant, and has a great choice, something for everyone ranging from chicken, lamb, beef to monkfish etc.
The theatre-style entertainment as you eat is something new and interesting, and entices customers back many times. The chef always has a laugh and does daft things like catches eggs in his hat! If its your birthday watch out as it’ll be you catching the egg!!
The main meals cost £13-£20 so it is quite pricey, and I wouldn't say it was suitable for kids really.
I would go with a group of people, friends or work colleagues for the best experience. It isn't the same if just 2 of you go and you don't know the other people on your table.
Definitely worth a visist!
This is fun and unique place to have a night out. The theatre style is fun and getting to join in the the cooking experience is great, but the food is not that varied or good for the price. The drinks are very overpriced and the table service was appalling. It was good for a works night and the birthdays who where there seemed to enjoy themselves but if you want a more traditional type of night out then try somwhere else
wow what a place, if you were gonna give 'Fun' another name you may want to call it Sopporo. Great for birthdays, or a date, or impressing visiting friends. all the staff and chefs are friendly and entertaining. the main meal meat selection is brilliant and beautifully cooked, and i love the potatoes, rice and veg that you get. however the puddings are a bit forgetful. The entertainment is the key in this place, this is an interactive style of eating, watch the chefs as they beat the cr*p out of your food right before your eyes.....your eggs will be cracked in a magical style on the edge of a sharp blade from a great hight after a juggling show, they will then end up as a snake before you get your egg fried rice. The more you join in the more enthusiastic the chef will get. Watch out for the fire. The only bad thing here is that if you are a couple then you are forced to sit next to strangers...some of which usually have bad or annoying eating habits. Not very private best experienced as a group.
Also be warned that the tradition of eating your food here is to do it in stages, don't wait for it all to come...eat your potatoes first, then your veg, then your rice, then your meat or fish...bit annoying, but great fun.
This is the first restaurant of its kind I have been to, and I would definitely go again.
However it is quite expensive so I would save it for posh occasions. Plus it is ideal mainly for a fun night out, with a group of friends or family - you all sit around a thin semi circle table, about 12 or so to a table, and the chef cooks your meal for you in the middle. He provides entertainment, throwing food to catch in your mouth etc.
If just a couple of you go then you have to share the table with other people, but this doesn't seem a problem as you are all siting in a line.
The food is good, they do a meal where you get a meat dish, potatoes, rice, vegetables and they give each part as it is cooked so just start eating whatever you get.
A great place to go with your partner, family or work colleagues.
Service, food and chefs are excellent!!
If you are looking for some where to have a few drinks and relax at the bar first then Sapporo is that place, livley an fun!
