Reviews for El Macho Bar & Grill
El Macho is in a nice part of Liverpool, on Hope Street, ideal for before the theatre or philharmonic.
The food is tasty, but maybe slightly pricey, with meals served on sizzling plates so you can smell nice flavours of the mexican dishes throughout the restaurant.
The interior has a nice cosy relaxed atmosphere, but lively at same time.
We had a Skillet dish, which was £27 but serves 2 people (so just pay half each). This was a really good deal, we got a big plate each with spicy rice, mexican beans, tortillas, and then they put a sizzling pan/plate of meat between you to share. I think there are three options of meat. The portions were very big, we couldn't finish ours.
I will definitely go back
El Macho is my favourite Mexican restaurant in Liverpool. It is just slightly away from the city centre on Hope Street.
Thought I do find usually that the brisk walk up Mount Pleasant from the train station just increases your appetite.
El Macho serves the whole range of Mexican delights from chilli to fajitas, enchiladas, burritos etc. it can be slightly pricey if you go the starter and main meal route but they do combo meals that are really great value giving you the chance to try 2 smaller portions of main meals. This is enough to satisfy the biggest appetite while keeping cost lower.
The décor is quirky and typically Mexican as is the music played, El Macho is a great night out especially if you like your food spicy but the best bit is swilling it all down with a lovely jug of margarita. Yummmmmmmm
